Psalm 69 Survey Results

First, my many thanks for all of those who took interest and participated in my Psalm 69 book survey.

Second, my apologies for taking so long to share the final results.

Truth is, nothing really too surprising in the results. But, for me, it was important to tap into the current state of Ministry fandom- and to see if how I remember things may or may not be reflected in Ministry’s greater fan base.

What this survey represents is simply a snapshot in time (September 2014) of some Ministry fans opinions on the band and album. It is not the grand summary of “what Ministry fans think,” rather, just 67 fans from this board. For my purposes, that’s perfectly fine. Again, I just needed to test the waters.

Most “discovered” Ministry in the 90’s and most of the results skew towards 90’s fandom. The Luxa/Pan era is the overwhelming favorite era of the band. “Just One Fix,” “N.W.O.,” and “Scarecrow,” are the top 3 favorite album tracks, with “hit single” “Jesus Built My Hotrod” scoring in the bottom half of the album. “Just One Fix” was the favored music video. The cover for The Mind album, surprising to me, was the favorite among respondents.

I was not surprised that most people would like a book on LORH. I agree, I’m just not the person to do so.

Here are the totals:

67 Total Responses. Not every respondent responded to every question.

Cool. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent. I’d forgotten about this. Thanks. When’s your book out?
Sad too see barely any DSOTS love. [:(]

I can’t remember if I voted for that one or not. My belief is that it would actually make for the most interesting “behind the album” era for a story, but actually getting insider information on it would be so difficult.

Al doesn’t remember that entire era. Makes research on it fragmented or one-sided at best.

I’m far away from having the book out. This survey was part of my research, which is ongoing. I hope to submit a proposal to the publisher this spring/summer 2015 whenever it is announced.

I also may or may not have had an interview with a studio engineer who worked on this album, LFG, and Filth Pig. And he may or may not have helped me get in touch with a few other engineers of the LORH-MIND-69 era.

I’d trust Paul’s “lopsided” account over a clear headed Al any day.

That may or may not be cool. If nothing gets accepted/approved by the publisher any chance of you posting what you had from the darkside engineer here on the board? As you can tell, I’m super intrigued by this album. Nothing else sounds anything like it in music and mood/atmosphere… I’m sure you’ll let us know when. good luck

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to indicate he worked on DSOTS. I was refering to Psalm. However, I will double check that fact. Hey man, I love DSOTS, so I feel your intrigue. In fact I can feel your disappointment. In lieu of this sad news, let me try and provide a spark of funny.

I also may or may not have put down $75 for a 15-min Skype Chat with Uncle Al (for the Bridge TV Show that FX just canceled) the day before Ministry FB announced they were no longer involved. And I may or may not have heard back from the indiegogo funders about said SkypeChat. And I may or may not know what indiegogo film I helped fund and I may or may not care about that fact.

Oh yeah, I will “publish” in some form or another all of my work on this book project if it does not get accepted for publication. And when I finish up some details with a few folks currently involved, I’ll be glad to share any non-Psalm info as necessity dictates.
