Prongs influences

Here is another one of those threads…

How has prongs influenced your life? recently or in the past…

For me, lately I am always going around saying either “Oh! Se a big mama.” or "Jammin’ on the one!

For me, lately I am always going around saying either “Oh! Se a big mama.” or "Jammin’ on the one!

I’ve only been on here a little while, but I’ve already mined the Gunnar vs. Gerda thread(s) for comeback lines and verbal ‘burns’ to be used in the near future. During my morning shaves, I often quote Connelly’s more abrasive moments in a kind of Travis Bickle-esque ‘preparing to face the world’ ritual. I’ve almost got the accent down right.

In all seriousness, this has been a kinda unorthodox therapeutic exercise for me. Several years’ worth of accumulating personal disasters have made me a lot more cynical and hesitant to deal with people than I’d otherwise be. To the point where I’d associate only with people who had near-identical tastes to me, and where I ESPECIALLY became an asshole self-parody in any public Internet forum.

So, as an experiment, I thought to myself “ok, let’s see if I can jump into this shark tank in which people are constantly at each other’s throats over differing tastes, and see if I can manage not to offend anyone.” What they call ‘abreaction therapy’ in the psychiatric biz.

So far the results have been measurably good. I’m getting a lot better about not flying off the handle at the slightest suggestion that I’m not ‘right’ about certain socio-political things, not bitching that others have been dealt a better hand in life, and not mumbling that people don’t care about my lonely corner of the artistic universe. Thank you Prongs [begins weeping openly, extends arms for ‘group hug’]

Prongs gave me AIDS.

I said a pretty long River’s Edge quote the other day to my new roommate and he joined in.

Prongs is a horrible influence for me.
I have an addictive personality, so when I get involved with some internet group I tend to take things way overboard. I spend too much time here and it distracts from more important stuff in my life.

I do enjoy the people, though, and have met some really cool cats (both “virtually” and face to face) as a result.

Prongs? Influences??

You BASTARDS!!!

I’m just here for the “happy endings”…
