Prong "Carved Into Stone"

The new Prong album is surprisingly good. Definitely 100x better than Ministry’s latest. Here is a videoclip for the song “Revenge Best Served Cold”.

Certainly, this is not groundbreaking stuff but it is a return to form for Tommy for sure.

Yes, I’m really enjoying the album too. They finally got a decent production job. I sort of wish I got the iTunes version though to hear the cover of Feuer Frei.

Yeah, great album, i’m really enjoyng it. I was amazed at the pure venom of List of Grievances, it sounds like it was written about someone who’s not really that popular in these parts. Can you guess who it is?

List of Grievances

"Hear you scream,
they are THIEVES!
as you scheme
and hide behind political themes
So much greed!
You’re not free!
But you speak
in this country openly
So you’re bitching, best WATCH YOURSELF

When it’s time
For you to pay
You abstain.
Feed you ego,
That’s your aim.

A list of grievances i now write.

You should just stop
So much you don’t know about.
Just end it now,
Something we’ll all cheer about

An enemy of society,
Hear you speak like you’re a DEITY.
I got it now,
You can’t trust,
So unjust!
It’s your business that’s corrupt.

Complain like everybody else.

Self invest
Selt impress
In excess
You and your self-righteousness.

A list of grievances i now write.

You should just stop,
So much you just talk about.
It’s got to end,
Same things we’ve all heard about.

You should just stop
So much you don’t know about.
Just end it now,
Something we’ll all cheer about
It’s time for LIES
It’s time for debts
I’m just keeping the sheets of broken rules
The side of right,
The side of left
In between and everything untrue

You should just stop
So much you don’t know about.
Just end it now,
Something we’ll all cheer about

You should just stop,
Same things we’ve all heard about.
It’s got to end,
Too much that’s just talk"

Wow, it’s a shame Tommy couldn’t be more specific as to who this song’s about, i’m really wondering who it might be[:)]

Enjoying the hell out of this album…

lolz, i wonder if Al even noticed? probably not. pretty big slap in the face.

that song sucks btw, just listened to it. i don’t even know how prongs are a band…so horribly generic.

More than one song on this seems to be about Al, actually. And yeah, “List Of Grievances” is a pretty generic thrash song but it works in the context of the album. It is also the only such generic song on the album.

HAHHAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

That’s pretty funny. I guess this didn’t come out on 13th Planet, eh?

Writing a song about how much you’ve been ripped off, then going back to work with them on another album? Talk about a beaten woman. [laugh]

Well, I think Tommy went into the studio with Al in December for Relapse, so might be possible he wrote that after. Or he might indeed have battered wife syndrome.

With all the interviews he did leading up to the release, you could read between the lines and see that he and Al had a falling out of some sorts. There’s a recent interview that kind of confirms what everyone thought about 13th Planet Records and such.

And as generic as List of Grievances may be, it’s still miles better than anything off of Relapse.

Doesn’t seem like much of a challenge to do something better than Relapse. I must have happened right after completion though. Or whenever he finished his parts.

There are a lot of elements lifted from the past 3 Ministry albums on this new Prong release. “Keep On Living In Pain” starts with a familiar-sounding vocal melody and “Ammunition” is even more Minsitry-esque. Judging by the lyrics of the latter song, Tommy thinks he learned how to write better music thanks to Al but is otherwise disdainful of him.

TBH, this does make sense to me. After all, Victor wrote the best riffs on the past few Ministry albums (Senor Peligro, Fear, No Glory etc.) and he must have learned a thing or two from Al along the way. The result is Carved Into Stone, which IMO capitalizes on the metal Ministry sound in a big way.

“Revenge Best Served Cold” is still the best song over here though and might be Prong’s best song ever. “State Of Rebellion” and “Put Myself To Sleep” are also great.

I just hope Tommy writes about Danzig and the French Onion Soup incident on the next album.

He could call the song “I Gotta Death Bug”[:)]
