Primitive Race

Actually, Grumpy . . . . if you find out what track that vocal+piano mix was, I’d like to check it out. The ones I heard had that stupid spastic eehhhh ehhhh ehhh ehhh bullshit and it was just seizure-inducing Pokémon ear rape.

But I would actually be very interested in a stripped DOWN version of anything.

I forgot the solo is in there too. but its not lurchy. It’s Warp City (Gimp in the box mix)

Ehhhh, I gave it a quick taste.
It was . . . . different, at least. But rather dull. And certainly unneeded.

On the plus side, at least I don’t have to modify my position that everything Erie does sucks.

Information on the new PR lineup: http://cultureaddicts.com/2017/02/18/primitive-race-enlist-chuck-mosley-ex-faith-no-dale-crover-melvins-announce-new-album/

“The outfit, lead by producer/bass player Chris Kniker (RevCo, Lords of Acid) enlist former Faith No More singer Chuck Mosley for vocals and Melvins’ drummer Dale Crover for the 10-song collection… With ‘Volume 2,’ Kniker approached the release with a more focused eye, bringing in Mosley and Crover who sing/drum (respectively) throughout the release, along with engineer Toshi Kasai (Melvins, Big Business) and mastering by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More).”

So yeah, they’ve abandoned all illusions of being an industrial band at this point.

Kniker worked on Revco?

Crover is great.
I’ll give them a chance on this next round . . .

So yeah, they’ve abandoned all illusions of being an industrial band at this point.

Thank God.
Probably the smartest thing they’ve done so far.

I don’t know anything about Moseley aside from him being first singer of FNM and his online mortgage fund raiser or whatever that was, but . . . . . I think Crover is probably creative enough that if Kniker has any actual ideas of his own that they can work on together they could POTENTIALLY jam out something interesting.

I think the key, though, is for them to just get in their garage or studio or wherever the fuck they play and just start jamming on some shit. All this fucking around with 2 second soundbites and wasting all their time promoting non-existent shit will just lead them to the same garbage dump the last project left.

Anyway . . . I do wish Chris and the boys all the best.
I’ll ease up on my shitting on everyone since most everyone I hate is apparently not in the “band” anymore anyway.

I would also recommend they change their name, though.
Primitive Race already has the stink of a thousand buttholes and it would be best if they just started clean and distanced themselves from that diarrhea-covered abortion of the past 4 years.

Hey guys, it was KILLING me to not share Dale was involved on here with you all when I was posting a few weeks back. I meant it when I said I wasn’t gonna fuck around with crowd funding, endless hype, and other crap. The record is recorded in full. It is currently being mixed at Annex Studios in Salt Lake by a good friend of mine Joe Haze (he’s worked with Sublime, tweaker, Sean Beavan and a bunch of others where he was the ghost mixer/engineer for Sylvia Massey)…I’ll be going out there sometime soon when we wrap up the final mixes. Anyway, this is the record I wanted. I felt like I could speak up more during the process and scrap a song or say that I wanted to take things another way. It doesn’t feel forced…like it’s got a part of me in it. Writing and making a record is so much different than producing and project managing one. I just didn’t feel like I could say much the last go around.

Erie and I wrote the roughs of the songs together. Then Mark Thwaite came in and really polished up the guitars. Added some other elements here and there (synths and noise)…very understated though. Just dialed it all in from that perspective. This is an alternative rock record if I had to give it a name. Next Toshi and Dale tracked drums live in his studio. I gave a little direction as for overall vibe but you don’t tell your dentist how to perform a root canal. What I was most concerned with was that it was organic and not “computer perfect”. If we wanted programmed over quantized lifeless drums we could have done that ourselves. Chuck recorded scratch vocals in Cleveland and then did final vocals in the studio with Erie. Next step is for Joe to get the mixes in place and once we have our notes and we’re ready to do final mixes I’ll head back in with him.

I’m glad you guys are willing to check it out…hopefully there’s some stuff on there you’ll like. It’s coming out this fall. The release date is set with Metropolis but I’m gonna keep my mouth shut other than that for now. I didn’t want to dump the PR name because I like it…I also invested a lot of time in it and I think part of the story of the whole thing is how you get from starting point to end.

Oh . . . so Erie is still in. Shit. Oh, well. I’ll still give it a chance.

Thanks for staying connected, Chris. I’m actually quite looking forward to hearing the next efforts. All the best.

Kniker - I saw on FB that Al is on this album. Can you tell us more about his involvement?

No Al is not on the record. There was a reference made to MGT working with Al on some Buck Satan stuff and that Christmas song they did. There were a few people that got worked up that Al wasn’t included as someone Mark worked with in the comments. I revised it to show Al’s name. The full lineup on the record is Chuck, Dale, Mark, Erie, and myself.

Oh, okay. I went back and re-read it. At first I thought it was the list of people on the PR album.

Best of luck with the release. Crover is a hell of a drummer. I’m interested in hearing it.

Hey guys, I’m posting this here to you guys because as harsh as some have been in the past I’ve come to like you. Barring any crazy mishaps or me dropping dead in the next few days Metropolis will have the album Monday. It’ll be out in Oct or Nov. I’m in love with it. I hope you guys will enjoy it. If I were never to do another PR record again I would feel satisfied. It’ll be on streaming services so when it comes out I hope you’ll at least give it a listen. Thanks for pushing me. Calling out crap. Giving credit when it’s due. Having good conversation and all that other shit.

Probably because most of us are real people with real opinions that are sometimes harsh. We’re not cruel for the sake of cruelty, were not overly mean unless we’re going for hyperbolic comedy, but i would say it’s just honest opinions. Cant hate people for the truth… or at least the the truth as they understand it.
Congratulations, by the way. You sound genuinely proud of it and not just trying to hype a new album the way some guy named Al always does.

That’s cool. The first album grew on me.
Wonder whatever happened to Bells Into Machines? They finished that album about a year ago.

Oh, you haven’t heard? It’s due for release on Black Friday [laugh]

[reply]Oh, you haven’t heard? It’s due for release on Black Friday [laugh]

Which one?[/reply]

Black Friday last year. Anyways, now their homepage bellsintomachines.com says it’s going to be released this october. I missed the opportunity to pre-listen to it last year, so I’m kinda looking forward to checking it out. Now it appears they have an actual record label putting it out too.

If I were never to do another PR record again I would feel satisfied.

Us too.
Hiiiiiiiiiiiyyyyyyyooooo!!!

Haha! Just bustin’ your balls, Brother. Congrats on the record.

That was a good one.

On another note Corey Feldman blocked Primitive Race on twitter. He took exception to the tweet “#IHopeMyLastWordsAreNot and the #Grammy goes to @Corey_Feldman”…juvenile of me, yes. But, I still thought it was pretty damn funny.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Feldman RULES!!!
