PINK ANVIL update

Ok so I have been doing some digging and am happy to say that I will be recieving an advance copy of the Pink Anvil CD ‘New Years Eve Party’ from Max Brody shortly. I will post a review here when I’ve gotten a listen. In the mean time, here is an update on Pink Anvil:

As to why they got dropped from Ipecac:

look, ipecac is a great label, but just try to imagine how many projects want to be part of their catalog…they get demos constantly. when they took on pink anvil, they printed up 5000 copies and were only able to sell 4500 of them, so they didn’t want to continue. business is business. if we had sold out and they had to repress copies it probably would have been a different story. i understand, and am honored that they did the one. i also understand that the music that i create is for a limited ‘niche market’ - Max Brody

Further information:

as far as i know, stackrecords will be officially releasing the 2nd and 3rd pink anvil cds. i spoke with barker a month or so ago about getting the remaining old merch as well (a couple hundred copies of ‘halloween party’ and some t-shirts) - Max Brody

NICE.

The deal with Ipecac, also, is that they do next to no promotion. A majority of that money goes into the artists’ pockets, if sales are made. It’s one of the few labels that can retain that quality. Pink Anvil actually sold a little over 1,000 copies, not amazing by any means but considering the average CD sells for $16-18 dollars, that’s not bad.

Where are you getting this information? Brody himself said they sold 4,500 copies in the post above…

Oh, I missed that part. Sorry. That figure I threw out was sometime around 2004 or early 2005. My fault.
