But in this case, they are security guards and were confronted when people saw it.

I could never understand how people justify the beatings cops do to suspects when the suspects are down on the ground and under full control (Rodney King). I understand to take someone down if they are posing a threat or difficulty, but surely, once he is down, is it necessary to beat him further? At least wait until you’re at the cop station you know?

About 19 seconds in. Do you really need 2 cops beating him with batons at this point? He can barely walk and is absolutely no threat whatsoever - he is unarmed, lying on the ground nearly unconscious. What’s he gonna do - get up and beat up the cops? Come on… Arrest him and haul him to jail. End of case. Why bother beating him up further?

But there are those that defend this action. Insane.

That second link you posted (the ABC Reporter) - that is disturbing. He was clearly on a public sidewalk.

Police should be superheros, rock stars, whatever you want to call it. They should walk the streets and people should think “I wish I had the intelligence, patience and courage to do that job.” As it is people think they are stupid, gullible, drunk assholes.

Cops do some good things as well though:

2 minutes in - hilarious.

think about who WANTS to become a cop.
i respect cops immensely, because they have a dangerous job (sometimes, when the donut shop is out of the way).
got rescued by one once when i was nearly dead on the street.true story.
i don’t like violence. i don’t dig big crowds. but people protesting have a right. some cops are just loose cannons.

The title of this thread made me laugh unreasonably loud.

Almost as good as “Truck Meat.”

carmangary, is this an invite for anybody in the hood?

Uh, why are those cops going out of their way to bust a bunch of bicyclists? Are there some hardcore crosswalk laws in NYC or what?

That does make me very happy.

A memory that makes me happy:

In high school I was at a party in the back yard with my friends and a bunch of people I didn’t know, and an off duty cop that lived next door came over and started talking shit about how loud it was. The cop was drunk and my buddy started talking shit to the cop until the cop got so pissed he took a swing at my buddy. He missed and my friend beat the living shit out of him and everyone laughed. My friend didn’t get in any trouble b/c the cop took a swing at him first and the cops that came out knew the cop that got beat up was drunk. That was a good party.

carmangary, i ain’t no where near your pad, man. what’s about you shippin’ me some of the beef?
maybe next time…

I don’t know of any laws enforced. I go to work everyday in NYC & sometimes pass Times Square during business hours with no craziness. Crowded yes…Cops yes…laid back but alert…all in all no hostility. During the night could be a different story though…cops more alert.

BEST COP STORY EVER.

I went out to a strip joint in Mexico with a few buddies a few months back. Had all my papers and everything, had more than a few beers, took in the scenery… Good times.

It was fantastic until we went back through Customs to go into the states. My homies and this girl my buddy Cruiser picked up went through A-OK. Myself? Not so much.

See, sometimes I forget what I look like. The long hair, the terrorist beard, the dark glasses, the nails… People generally aren’t used to that nonsense. And all this at three in the morning, myself reeking of booze, cigars, and strippers, I kinda didn’t figure what that’d look like to Border Partol.

I get detained and thrown in secondary for a good hour or so, all the while essentially being searched and interrogated about everything from citizenship to drugs to weapons and beyond.

These fuckers wanted to NAIL ME SO BAD FOR ANYTHING. Not only were they pissed when my citizenship checked out and my police record came up clean, they hated the way I spoke: educated, direct, and very, very friendly. Seeing nothing else to legally bitch about, they reassembled my phone, gave me back all my paperwork, and told me to get a “better” birth certificate back in the States, as mine was apparently counterfeit-esque.

They release me, I meet my friends on the other side. They applaud, I bow, then promptly flip off the Customs building.

Good times.
