Photos and Synopsis for new RoboCop

If you read the WIKI article on “The Hitcher” it’s actually a pretty cool backstory on the difficulty in getting the film made and the scenes they wanted.

When I was like 5 or so, my parents fired a babysitter for watching Poltergeist with me. I was terrified that the tree outside my bedroom window was going to eat me.

Wow the finger was supposed to be an eyeball!! I’m glad he stood firm on not changing the script to have the girl not be ripped apart…the studio didn’t even want her to die at all…pussies…

Haha,I’m picturing a young Grmpy sitting by himself in terror taking advantage of the free cable…

[laugh]
[cool]
Yeah, I also remember trying to go to sleep after the movies ended and all I wanted to do was go home and get a hug from my mom [:(] a hug from mom would make this better.

Damn gunnar, I think the shining would be a tough film to watch alone as a kid. even on basic cable it’s creepy.

I like Sean Bean, he was ok, but he’s no Rutger Hauer. The fact that they had a couple on the run instead of one person robbed it of any tension whatsoever.

There were a couple of decent bits in the sequel, but overall it was a very late cash-in on an amazing film. Maybe they did it because the remake was being made, i suppose, they thought they could capitalise on that.

the remake was total ass. it, like most horror re-makes robbed the artistry from the original and replaced with with the same damn filters and effects we have seen a million times. the couple, the BOY getting the axe, the loss of the HUGE amounts of homoerotic and predatory sexuality, the lesser actors… blah, worthless remake.

as for the sequel, it was awesome to see C Thomas Howwie return for the role, and while i would have rather seen The Rut come back as the hitcher, it wasnt a bad choice to pick Jake Busey. though… the sequel is a silly idea all together…

in general though, sequels piss me off/offend me WAY less than remakes. i have a long rant about this. haha.

Spot on, man. Yeah, the really scary homoerotic stuff from The Hitcher is just so disturbing. He picks up this dude who seems ok, then the guy’s getting a bit too close and trying to fuck his eye with a switchblade. Jake Busey was definitely not a bad choice for the sequel. He’s such a weirdo, not as weird as Rutger though… but then again, who is?

Rutger is always fantastic…especially as a villain although he can do about anything…I was sad to see him slumming it in True Blood recently(I’m sure he got a nice paycheck though…and good for him)…he looked really ancient too…I imagine he is pushing 70 if he isn’t already there…

Yeah, he’s such a great actor, sadly mostly slumming it for the past couple of decades. I think he probably realised he could do a lot of crappy films and make money than wait around and do only good films, being paid not very much. Ah well, fair play to him, he’s probably in demand, so why not exploit it?

I’ve never seen True Blood myself, didn’t like the look of it at all. I think the last thing i saw him in was Hobo With A Shotgun. It’s not the sort of film you’d expect a decent performance in, but he is, as ever, electrifying. He gives a genuinely heartfelt performance as someone who’s probably not all there mentally, in a film that’s basically a piece of trash (deliberately, though, it must be said). I was amazed, i thought his performance was pretty moving when he could easily have just phoned it in.

Yeah,he was the only good thing about that Troma wannabe…that was a nasty film…and not in a good way…but he was excellent in it…the dude has loads of eerie, menacing charisma…and you’re right he has been slumming it for a good while…True Blood’s first season was good but steadily declined and now it’s just wretched…my girl is in to it so I have to suffer through it considering some of the stuff I make her sit through that isn’t her cup of tea…

Growing up in the 80’s he was just a cable tv staple…from the Hitcher,Nighthawks,Blade Runner,Flesh and Blood, Blood of Heroes,Wanted Dead or Alive etc…the guy was everywhere…always one of those actors who take over the screen…

Blood of Heroes

YES
YES
YES, YES, YES!

this movie is so damn kick-ass. Jugger is the best fictional sport (take that murdeball) Vincent D’Nof is the fucking man. the international edit is a bit more kickass. and fuck yes this movie.

too many things to say. cant use normal sentences. fuck yes this movie.

I remember seeing ‘Halloween’ on halloween when i was 5 and my parents where swimming with friends. My mom had all window’s open so the drapes where blowing just like in the movie…man, when they show the part and he is gone at the end still scares the shit out of me.Also remember ‘the hitcher’ as a kid and Robocop 1&2 *don’t see why 2 get’s such a bad rap nowaday’s.

…Robocop 1&2 *don’t see why 2 get’s such a bad rap nowaday’s.

I only saw 2 once and I saw it in the theater as a kid and I remember walking away from it thinking “that was stupid.” and this was a time when I would normally like everything in the theaters. All I can remember of it now is robocop going in to some arcade in some seedy part of town to look for someone or something.

I’ve never felt the need to revisit it based on my original assessment of it.

Yet another reason i hope the new Robocop’s great, so it can knock the smug smirk off Cracked’s face. I love how they can tell so much about it from watching a trailer, how there’ll be a loss of sublety, and how his having a human hand will totally ruin the film. I enjoy Cracked’s lists for the most part, but they show a huge lack of knowledge about a lot of the stuff they talk about in their moronic comments.

Although i hope it’s great, i will be the first to admit it if it turns it out to be crap.

Yeah there is some nitpicky shit there, but that stuff adds up quick. As in, Prometheus quick.

Haha, Prometheus has become a byword for disappointing sci-fi.

Oh dear…

There’s been 2 new trailers in the last couple of days, i think it looks great. The director made the Elite Squad films, they were both excellent.
