whilst moving i found my old turntable. so i plug it into my line in on my sound card. no luck. after some research, i found i need a phono pre-amp to go between the phonograph and the line in.
is there any software out there that can do this for me? my soundcard already kinda amps sound, no?
or do i just need to buy real phono pre-amp for this crap to work?
Phono Preamp. A phono preamp is basically the part of a receiver that makes your record loud enough for your speakers, inside a tiny case. Make sure the one you buy includes an RCA > 1/8th converter, or you will have to get one at Radioshack, or wherever electronic components are sold. The adapter will let you connect your preamp to your computers line-in jack. I bought mine from http://phonopreamps.com
i was going through some boxes for something else and found a small 2 channel mixer. listening to Land of Rape and Honey on vinyl now. the bass is delicous.
now to find some jesu vinyl, i know he’s releasing heartache in jan on vinyl. sweeeeeet.
Ages ago I bought a really expensive one, only to later realise that being a manual one I needed to set the weights myself. If I set them too heavy I can hear the needle grinding, but if I set it any lighter the needle jumps when a fly lands on the ground a room away [crazy]
I had one place, which I just sat on a shelf, and it was fine, every other house has “vibrated” too much. Pain in the ass. It doesn’t click off either when it reaches the end of the record. I should have bought a $60 automatic job.
But, for those listening to music and not moving times, its great [:P]
