I believe there’s some Bauhaus/PM fans here…

Great concert last night. Small crowd, but loud, especially between encores. Pete’s new 3-piece band rocks pretty hard, and I was really impressed with the guitar player. It sounded like Pete was using pre-taped vocal tracks for some of the songs, as I could hear him harmonizing with himself a lot (and it definitely wasn’t a digital harmonizer). The organs and female vox in “Sweetest Drop” were present, too. It definitely helped fill out the sound. Peter’s vocals sounded better than ever. Tickets were ‘only’ $28 at the door, a welcome relief from all the $50+ concerts these days.

I was pleased with the set list, my only disappointment being the absence of any Love Hysteria songs (apparently he has played “All Night Long” at one other show, if not more). No big deal, I’ve heard that song live a few times in the past. It’s notable that the Deep tracks all sounded amazing, nearly off-the-record. “Strange Kind of Love” was great - Peter played the 12-string, complemented by the lead guitarist, and the bass player would add the occasional low end, and mimicked the oboe part on the high frets - nice touch. I liked their choice of Bauhaus material, and was surprised to hear “Huuvola” live…one of my favorites on Cascade.

We could tell there was some taped stuff going on as far back as the Bauhaus reunion in the late '90s.

i saw him years ago and thought that he had one of the best live voices i have ever heard (david byrne and sting also top my list). was looking forward to seeing him again.

then i actually won tickets to the detroit show on this tour off of the radio. some modern rock station that would never dream of playing his solo stuff or bauhaus. that’s probably why i won them as nobody else knew who he was. i was excited about this until i realized a couple weeks ago that his show here is the same night i am seeing the cure in cleveland. oh well…

decent setlist, but he probably could have played a few more songs. seems short.

I know, best song on Cascade. There’s a bunch of great ones he could’ve played: Keep Me From Harm, Dragnet Drag, You’re So Close, Seven Veils… He played All Night Long and a Final Solution encore at other gigs. Devil’s Teeth was a kick-ass opener.

yeah he should have done subway instead of gliding like a whale.

I heard Gliding Like A Whale at Denny’s one night. It was right after the local goth night closed for the evening.
