Peligro +1

Picked up grouper and Lotus Eaters
haven’t listened to Louts Eaters yet though because it’s only available on Vinyl and I need to set up my turntable again to mesh with my laptop so I can grab a rip on CD (thing was expensive as fuck though! 40 bucks!) but certainly giving you the +1 for grouper Extremely satisfied with that chick! totally compliments the Silver cd in my opinion, I can listen to those cd’s back to back and it all runs together in a good way!

I’m looking into that Grouper album too, will report back when I have it.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, she has this white noise that runs all the way through the cd but it’s played at a low volume and it rises and falls and reminds me of small waves on a vacant and lonely beach. I paid about 12 bucks for it brand new so hopefully you can pay as much or get a better deal.

Excellent, I’m really pleased that you like it - I always thought Grouper was kinda ‘difficult’ so it proves that yr kinda moving outside the box a little. That’s cool.

The Lotus Eaters vinyl is set to be worth a fortune in days to come so you’ve done well…

I managed to snag a copy a few weeks back and it’s one of the most beautiful looking vinyl packages I’ve ever seen. I feel like framing it.

It cost me AU$48 plus AU$25 for shipping…so stop complaining about the cost.

Still can’t believe you were less than thrilled with that Earth remix album I recommended as it’s total killer.

Give me a while and I’ll recommend you some more.

Actually, if Jesu be yr ‘thing’ you need to check out a British act called Loop. They were around during the late 80’s early 90’s and trod a similar path to what Jesu is doing now - albeit slightly noisier.

Their first album is insane…and I think their back catalogue has recently been reissued. You can listen to samples on amazon.

I’m sure a few people on this forum have mentioned being big Loop fans.

Robert Hampson (Loop guitarist) was in Godflesh for Pure. Later, he formed Main, an important ambient project.

No surprise that Justin is influenced by him.

With this said, I don’t think Loop sounds anything like Jesu!

that’s kinda what swayed me to buy it. It’s packaged up looking like an old photo album, thought that was pretty cool. damn shame it’s not released on cd, but then again I’m sure I wouldn’t have even looked at the vinyl. btw they had it placed in the Sun O))) section and there was an older chap (roughly mid to late 40’s) looking in the Sun O))) section and I thought that was odd cause I’ve kinda figured this type of music a young man’s noise so I chatted him up and he was really nice said he was shocked at just how popular this type of music is getting. didn’t have the heart to tell him I was shocked to see an older dude checking out that kind of music. but he knew who the lotus eaters were and dropped two names that I guess are part of the group and mentioned avalanche records. said it was a good album I said what I had heard of it was pretty good. that was pretty much it, nice chap though.

I’ve gone back to it a couple of times since and I still can’t find the magic. Sorry, dude!

I’ll try and keep them in mind. I got a shit ton of music though this trip and it’s gonna be awhile before I can get some more. I picked up Opiate sun but I haven’t really had a chance to really listen to it. I’ve been stuck on Grouper and STP. Got two STP releases, a Wicked Garden single that has an acoustic version of Plush (fucking brilliant!! way better than the mtv unplugged version of Plush) and a promo sampler of STP which is pretty much a greatest hits but it comes with a bonus disc of just the instrumentals of the songs! (awesome as well!)

Finally some Loop Love!!!

[:)]

Yeah, definitely check out Loop, grmpy. I turned alot of people onto them in my time. They were a bigtime favourite of mine for many a year.

I believe I even had some sort of Loop poster on my bedroom wall back in the day.

They don’t really sound like Jesu - but I can see the revelance and hear the influence. Main are also seriously worth checking out.

Robert Hampson did play on Pure and I love the direction they took with that album. It’s a shame his involvement with the band more or less ended there.

I’ll never understand why Justin was never happy with Pure.

LOOP is really good stuff. I remember the video to Arc-lite on 120 Minutes, and Robert eventually becoming the 2nd guitarist for Godflesh for awhile.

Plus there is the Loopflesh/Fleshloop single where each band covers one of the other’s songs.

I love Streetcleaner, but Pure is still my favorite Godflesh release, Robert’s guitar playing being no small part in that.

Enjoy:

I listened to Grouper based on the suggestion here, too,
Liked it. Reminds me of early/mid-90s Projekt Records stuff.

When it comes to music, Peligro’s pretty much the only person I actually trust.

Loop’s remastered singles compilation ‘The World in Your Eyes’ is pretty cheap at the mo. Has some good covers like ‘Like Rats’ on it. Value.

Well, he’s certainly eclectic in his likings. Some I completely see the art in his choices and others I’m as baffled as a fat guy looking at plastic food.
One thing is for sure, I’m probably really gonna like it or really gonna hate it… That turn signal sound in one of the songs on the Earth compilation, perfect example! That bugs the shit out of me… Guess I should try that cd some time when I’m not in the car huh?

Loop is the shit, son.

“Straight to Your Heart” is absolutely killer.

I think Loop’s first album was killer. Everything after that…maybe so so.

Definitely one of those bands best listened to LOUD.

Haven’t heard much of Hampson’s other material - apart from Pure, which I am led to believe he had quite a bit of imput on.

When it comes to music, Peligro’s pretty much the only person I actually trust.

That’s just cuz he likes your band! [:P]

He is also ghey for my uncircumcised penis.

only us savage americans and jewish people are really big on the penis cutting…

It’s not so much the uncircumcised head as it is the smell of smegma in the morning.

Also, this LOOP is rather shvelt. Kudos to this forum for prevailing yet again [:)]
