PAUL BARKER-CHRIS CONNELLY Free Show

I don’t want to tell people how to love their lives, but in this case I’ll just say I would strongly urge Chris snd Paul to return to their respective gigs feeding turtles at PetCo and selling homemade pedals out of a backpack.

Oh video is unavailable now. Oh well.

You can still find the whole set on YouTube.

So many questions raised by this - why bother having only the bass performed live? They really couldn’t find a guitarist, any guitarist to perform the numbingly repetitive RevCo parts over the tape? Neither Paul nor Chris could whip out the old Casio and plop out some bloops to spice the proceedings up a bit?

I realize it was a free show but I’d still like my money back.

Just got back from Cold Waves IX, and this was fun as HELL to see live! Literally a ton of my favorite RevCo tracks and the house went NUTS for No Name No Slogan~

This is like Tool. Tool is a poor man’s NIN.

I was just watching the video for “No Name” and it looks like it would have been a lot of fun to be there for.

Right on! I didn’t see any of the live videos but I think a lot of us are just sick of being caged up and even if something isn’t the concert of the century, we’re likely going to enjoy getting goofy with a crowd of people. Last month I went to Psycho Las Vegas to see Danzig and, while the concert was an absolute blast and Danzig was in top form, it’s almost incidental to me. I just wanna party with a bunch of people and clown around. When you follow the same bands for many years, these events can be like class reunions where you see the same fans/followers. That shit is priceless. If it’s ONLY about the music, then people can stay home and watch YouTube or listen to their stereo.

Have a blast! Looking forward to hearing about it.
What venue is this at?

Who else did you see at Psycho Las Vegas?

I didn’t watch any other bands besides Danzig. Just clowned around with a bunch of friends.
On one night we packed a theatre for a premiere of DANZIG’s silly “Death Rider In The House of Vampires” movie, and on the day of DANZIG’s concert I also rented a studio downtown for a big pre-show party. The whole weekend, which I extended from Thursday-Monday, was incredible.

It was a good show. Chris/Paul set was different than the free online show. It was at the Mayan in DTLA.

Was it just them again or did they have anyone else for the band?

It was still just the two of them, but with a crowd it felt like more of a show. They had backing videos too. When they played PTP’s “Show Me Your Spine” they had clips from Robocop, it was pretty cool.

Jesus, “Show Me Your Spine” is a song I never thought would be performed live. That’s cool.

I said the same exact thing. And they opened with Acid Horse’s “No Name, No Slogan”. The place went nuts.

So I was ACCIDENTALLY at this gig, start to finish. Let me tell you it was surreal. I’ve been staying in NYC randomly, going through a terrible breakup and picking up the pieces, and rocking out of course! so we got 242 tickets on a whim…didn’t even. know who was opening.

Anyway I was delighted and pleasantly surprised to see these two lovable nerds on stage! Let alone playing this random assortment of songs including “Creep” and “Sergio” which have become cult obsessions of mine over the years since I got worn out on the main Ministry stuff and started digging more into RevCo…

So it was INCREDIBLE to see these two doing these songs live, totally unexpected. That said, it was a bit stiff and they just don’t have the star power without a drummer or Al. Chris really brought his all. Paul was super awkward. It was what it was. Couple of lovable post punk dweebs…

It will remain one of the best “pleasant surprise” gig moments of my life. Up there with hearing Chris Connelly during soundcheck of “So What” backstage in Chicago on tour with Ministry! It sent chills down my spine, and we ran up the stage, sure enough him and Al are there smiling and singing together for a sound check. That was surreal!

Come to think of it I also saw that original RevCo revival thing in NYC by accident a few years ago…

So wow yeah Chris and Paul are the people I keep accidentally seeing live! How funny!
