Party Music

Serious answer…

Method Man - Tical
Redman - Whut? Thee Album
AC/DC - Back in Black
Pretty Poison - Catch Me I’m Falling
Justice - Cross
Billy Idol - Vital Idol
Ludacris - Chicken & Beer
311 - Transistor
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle I
Black Sabbath - Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath

Ok, it’s taken me a while to compile this but I did so with the collection I presently own.

I would begin with Def Leppard’s ‘Hysteria’, then Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rumours’, fire it up with ‘Peace, Love and Death Metal’ by EODM, rock out with my cock out to ‘Blood Sugar Sex Magik’ by RHCP, followed by QOTSA and ‘Rated R’, followed by Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’, rounded off with ‘Bat out of Hell’ from Metloaf, then relax a little with Goldfrapp’s ‘Black Cherry’, blow their mind with Led Zeppelin’s ‘IV’ then round off the night with ‘Pearl’ from Janis Joplin.

I make no apologies for my choices and am aware of the distinct lack of hip hop (real hip hop) in it. That’s another list all on it’s own.

So far I’m hoping I’m on the invite list for Icepick and Velvet’s parties.

It’s really hard to pick whole albums to play. Even on the ones I like (of which most would not be party worthy) I usually only play a few tracks off of. I think I would play . . .

(I hope it’s not cheating if I pick greatest hits albums). Anyway, my half-assed effort at keeping the party going would be . . .

Curtis Mayfield – “Superfly” soundtrack
Duran Duran – “Decade”
Ice Cube – “Greatest Hits”
Dion and Dion and The Belmonts – “Hits”
Rolling Stones – “Hot Rocks”
Dead or Alive – “Youthquake”
Devo – “Greatest Hits”
Sex Pistols – “Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols”
AC/DC – “Back in Black”
Revolting Cocks – “Linger Fickin’ Good”
The O’Jays – “Love Train: The Best of O’Jays”

Devo is without doubt excellent party music. Their version of Satisfaction alone would have me bouncing off the walls.

And I really don’t know how anybody could possibly listen to Jerkin’ Back And Forth and still remain seated…!

Went to a party on Saturday night that ended up being a total snoozefest (and no I didn’t “whip it out” to liven things up) so I went back home, grabbed these little beauties…

Neu - Neu!
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Amon Tobin - Supermodified
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillion
Boredoms - Super Roots 7
Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
David Bowie - Low
Massive Attack - Heligoland

…to try and get things happening.

Didn’t work. Most of the party-goers just stood around in small groups by the pool sipping gin and tonic and ignoring anyone that wasn’t ‘cool’ enough to talk to.

Yep. It was one of those parties.

Boring twats.

I should have played my Prurient collection.

Yeah, Devo is the shizznit.
