All this excitement and the first album is going to be… a re-release of Pale Sketches (which is not that hard to get). I think he’s doing the right thing separating guitar based and electronic based material.
New jesu album, 3, in demo stage to be recorded later in the year.
Still no proper release date for ‘Heart Ache’ re-release.
This sounds…really dull. I don’t understand why everything has to be neutered and segmented into neat little packages.
Why not just fuse the electronic and the rock for Jesu? I think he should be filtering all the best ideas from all his little projects and just concentrating on making really good Jesu albums.
I understand his main source of income is probably these constant releases bought up by his niche fan base though…

It might be that he feels the guitar material and the electronic material that he’s working on do not necessarily fuse together seamlessly/naturally and that it might feel uneven/forced to try to add them together on the same release. Most of ‘Pale Sketches’ does sound quite different to ‘Jesu’ for example. There are commercial benefits to splitting up the styles as you’ve said but I’m not sure if Broadrick is motivated (at least primarily) by that, though in fairness re-releasing ‘Pale Sketches’ as the first album of this project is lame and might seem financially motivated. ‘Pale Sketches’ is quite good (bar the first 2 songs) and am interested in hearing more electronic material but I wouldn’t announce a new project unless I had new material to show for it.

My understanding is that this new project is going to do an electronic “re-interpretation” of ‘Pale Sketches’…
Either way the whole thing is lame and completely convoluted. One of the reasons I don’t own more JK Broadrick is I am overwhelmed by all the side projects and blah blah it’s just so complicated trying to keep track.
There is a lot of bad mixed with the good. He should be releasing less, focusing on quality control, trying to make each release the best he can and maybe merging more of those disparate styles rather than doing a separate project for each.

He admitted in the recent interview that this is what he needs to do and said that is what he will attempt to do from now on. I too hope for such an approach. ‘Jesu’ was the last and only great jesu LP, in my opinion.
one thing i hate about Nine Inch Nails is that there are way too many ep’s and special releases for me to keep track of and buy just because i need to be all completist and shit…
i mean, i love the prospect of more music from JKB, but come the fuck on. How many projects is this now?
Digging it, as well as most of the music he releases under this alias yet I find myself wondering if we’re seeing this right now to compete with new Boards of Canada on some playlists…
