OT: Nitzer Ebb tour

Going to see NE tonight in Tempe. Anyone caught this tour yet? It’s the first time I’ve seen them since the Ebbhead Tour in '92 (also saw the Showtime tour in '90). I’m guessing there are some Nitzer Ebb fans among us? It appears they’re going to record a new album after all, once the tour’s over. Hasn’t this happened before?: band re-unites, schedules 1-3 shows only, says ‘that’s it, and no plans to record’, then they start adding more dates, it turns into a full tour, and the next thing you know, they have a new album. Should be interesting.

I’ll post the set list and review later on.

That’s crazy, I had no idea those guys were even still around. I always had a fantasy about doing a crazy rooster dance during “Join in the chant” and now my chance may have finally come.

Hey, long time no see! I’m a fan of their stuff. I think they had some new sideproject stuff along with a greatest hits album called “Body of Work”, which is the same name of what the tour’s called. I think they played the new stuff they made recently from “Maven” and from their other side bands on the first half of the tour, but they played all the Nitzer Ebb hits on the second half. It was a great show at Irving Plaza hearing 3 tracks from “That Total Age” along with the other hits from their glory days. They even played 2 encores for us in NYC for being such a great audience. You can see the NYC pics on their myspace site if you want (since they are the only SURE NYC pics to my knowledge), and I’d love to see a setlist for the show I saw as well.

What can I say, really - it was a ‘classic’ best-of set list, and it was full of energy from the opening notes. The crowd was small (understandable), but everyone yelled the lyrics, pumped their fists, and danced to the whole set. It was a great show, no disappointments. I was a little surprised that they didn’t play “Kick It” or anything from the Big Hit album. I seem to recall that when they split it '95/'96, Bon and Andrew were both quoted in interviews saying that their last album was their favorite. I guess that from a ‘completist’s’ point of view, the show would be a disappointment (along with exclusion of anything pre-That Total Age a la “Warsaw Ghetto”), but this was clearly a show for the fans, and NE delivered. They played mostly single/edit/remixed versions of everything, which would explain the hour/15 minute set, but it was cool just to hear these guys live again, and as my female friends would point out, Andrew still looked very young and thin. Definitely had the feel of a ‘throwback’ show. I guess we’re just used to seeing most of our favorite older bands with, er, bloated, balding lead singers/guitarists, etc… I would agree that the band looked young, and full of energy, as if they were still looking for that initial record deal.

I think that “Blood Money” was the one obscure track, and - if the set list is any indication - Belief was the album-of-choice for NE tonight. No argument there…Belief has long been my favorite album of theirs (That Total Age is a close second).

Anyway, great night at the Marquee. If NE comes to your town, drop the 20 bones and see them (oh, the shirts are only $20 as well…a rarity these days).

Always wondered why no one mentioned Nitzer Ebb on this board before… Great band. I saw them at a cheesy nightclub in Houston in 94 or 95. Good show.

i saw them at their warm up show in detroit a few months ago. it was at an outdoor festival and was a very good time. loads of people there just cause it was a fest which made it even better.

bootleg of the LA show. 11 seeders, no leachers so now is the time to grab it. the detroit show was up there a few weeks ago but must not be seeded anymore.
