Throbbing Gristle to Release First New LP in 25 Years
Cortney Harding and Amy Phillips report:
It’s about time industrial music made a comeback. Now that we’ve gotten the punk, post-punk, and new wave revivals out of the way, can we put in a request for more new bands that sound like violent sex in automobile factories? Thanks.
Throbbing Gristle, the group that pretty much invented the industrial genre, are gearing up for a big comeback in 2006. In February, Mute Records will release the first new Throbbing Gristle studio album in 25 years, entitled Part Two. Here’s the tracklist, spelling and grammar mistakes included:
01 Vow of Silence
02 Rabbit Snare
03 Seperated
04 Almost a Kiss
05 Greasy Spoon
06 Lyre Liar
07 Above the Below
08 Endless Not
09 Worm Waits It’s Turn
10 After the Fall
I just picked up TG-Now recently, and I thought it was fantastic. I was a little worried about what it might sound like, but it sounds exactly like it should: like what each of the 4 members has been doing lately, but put together. I can hear a lot of Chris & Cosey, and a lot of recent Coil, plus vocals that sound like Thee Majesty. But it’s all still distinctively Throbbing Gristle. Even with each song over 10 minutes, it’s never boring. I’m really looking forward to the new album (and oooh! I want the one with bones in the spine!).
New Coil AND new TG just months apart. Pure awesomeness
New Coil??? What new Coil? Is it The Ape Of Naples album that was only released at their gigs? Or the Backwards album? Where can I find info on this??
Anyone excited by this new TG album, may also like to hear that Whitehouse are putting out an album in Feb, called Astheticists. Take that with a pinch of salt.
hmmm, new Coil, new TG, new Whitehouse, new Jesu, new Morrissey, new Liars, new Killing Joke…
Yeah, Ape of Naples is getting a full release, but it’s flying around the filesharing networks as we speak. It sounds really cool to hear all those old “Backwards” demos polished and put into form with vocals and the works. Some good stuff on there.
