OT: Depeche Mode (for other pussies like me)

well ministry opened for them a couple times so it’s not totally unrelated…

new leaked single. i personally think it’s their best track in a long time (i know that isn’t saying much). a rough cut of the video is on ifilm.com as well.

i saw the interview they did in june. The three said it’s much different than anything they’re done before. I like DM.

Thanks for the tune.[;)]

i looked at ifilms under DM and didn’t see anything. can you link please.

not bad…i like the keys.

Awesome, thanks Fish. I read a review on depeche-mode.com (unofficial site), and the guy who reviewed said Precious is the best single, and Playing The Angel is the best album they’ve done since Violator. In-fact, he compares the album’s sonics to Violator and Music For The Masses. If it’s better than Un-Exciter, that’s good enough for me.

Grabbing the song now.

My initial reaction is that it sounds like A Broken Frame. It has sort-of a low key, Leave In Silence/My Secret Garden/Sun and The Rainfall feel to it.

Gonna break it in a few more times. Interesting choice for a single, but a good tune. It’s better than 95% of Exciter.

I"m hearing some enjoy the silence …that’s a good thing [:)]

fish…I think the site is down…i got an error. [:(]

I did get to see the video…unfinished, but pretty cool.

Damn, I downloaded that mp3 at work, and now that I’m home, the site is down.

Edit: The site’s back up, and I have the mp3.

Nice tip, Fish. Thank you!

A shocking return to their synth roots for DM. Wow. What’s next? Is Al going to finally release his follow-up to “With Sympathy”?

wow. this is rad.
the rest of the album needs to leak now so i don’t wear out this one song.

went last night. Great show the bravery opened up and were very good…check them out!

Be perpared to hear like 5 or 6 tunes off the new cd. I like the new cd so I was happy. They had a 5 piece band with live drums.

2 hour show and well worth the money.

I saw them about two weeks ago in Glendale, and it was a great show. I’m not as keen on the new album as others (especially A Pain That I’m Used To, with its tired chorus), but the show overall was visually and audibly pleasing. I think the band could back off playing ‘greatest hits’ setlists all the time, and play more obscure stuff for the hardcore fans that are still around. I don’t know why they continue to overlook the A Broken Frame LP, as it’s much better than Speak and Spell (namely Just Can’t Get Enough), and a new song like “Precious” harkens back to that era’s sound. Still, it’s a minor complaint that’s probably echoed by at least one person every time a band tours. I know they can’t please everyone.

Regardless, it’s their best tour since the SOFAD tour in '93-'94, so if you’re a Mode fag like me, I recommend you get a cheap seat (uh, $45 is ‘cheap’ in this case) and check them out.

You can enjoy the webcast of the KROQ Acoustic Christmas concerts which will include Depeche Mode as the final act on Sunday evening.

Just watched NIN’s 75-minute set. It was really good. Direct soundboard feed audio and good video at 300k. Wish there was an easy way to record this stuff.

There is a great app called Audio Hijack. I use OSX but i’d have to imagine there is a PC version or something similar for PCs. it will rip the audio coming from the app you choose directly into aiff/wav/or mp3. I use it al lot for any decent concerts streamed online.
