So within the last few days i’ve been acquiring the final discography amongst other things from our little jesu boy. Legal and not so legally, i’ve found everything BUT this one. I have found and read reviews about this album though, all of them are pointing this out to be one of the more essential. Anyone here able to help get a hold of this one?
The First Millionth of a Second is a great album. I remember listening to it ALOT when I first downloaded it years ago, and then ONE used copy showed up on amazon for a very cheap price (under $3! ) and I snagged it.
I don’t listen to it often these days, but I still like it better than One, and maybe even 2 and 3. Nothing can top Solaris for me, though. And I REALLY enjoy everything he’s done under Final this year. Dead Air is great…have you gotten that one yet?
As for finding a copy of this album, Mick Harris (yes, Scorn/Lull) is selling his Final cds over at the avalanche forums.
I did get Dead Air actually, but only skimmed through the tracks so far. The ones i’ve mainly listened to so far are One and 2. I’m going to continue looking for it though, download or purchase. Which ever comes first.
what’s a good album to start with? I can get my hands on “one” “2” "3 "and “dead air”…

Out of those three, i’d go with Dead Air (just listened to it). This is ambient music afterall, so picking favorites isn’t necessarily an easy thing. But if you get the chance, Solaris is a pretty good one as well.

I bought my first Final album the other day, 2, and it didn’t really grab me. Out of nine tracks, I dug three (and ironically, all three weren’t from Godflesh contributors - all solo Justin). Therefore, should I go further? I like minimalism, but it didn’t seem to hit me…a lot of it…
Well, Jizz and the Toot used to rave about this act! is it in the same vein as Jesu Silver? Is jesu silver considered ambient? I’m still looking for another CD to grab me like that one! [:(] Pale Sketches was pretty damn good, it just didn’t have the cold familiarity that Silver has.

Pale Sketches, to me, is an anomaly of the jesu discography. It’s good, but I couldn’t put it in the same lineup as the other material. Ambient? …Maybe? I usually classify it within the ranks of post-rock/metal. But it certainly does have it’s ambient moments more often than some. There’s definitely something very atmospheric in each of those songs (not including PS).
