OK…so this is it. 2007 will be the last time Ministry unleashes a new album upon the unsuspecting. And it’s been a fun (albeit bumpy) ride. Many of us have been there since the beginning, others have only just joined in. Doesn’t really matter though does it? This band has meant so many different things to so many different people…and that’s not such a bad thing in the end.
Now we know what we’re going to get, however if you had any last requests for this album what would they be? What would you like this final farewell to include if you could have a say in it?
ie. Less Bush, less thrash metal hi-jinks, heavier emphasis on sampling/synths/psychadelics, guest spots etc etc.
In short, what do you think the ‘farewell’ album should sound like?
Personally - a heavier, slower version of Psalm 69 maybe, with the odd experimental ambient track and maybe a hint of the Rape And Honey synth fury would be the way I’d go. Some tribal drumming too to round it all off. Wishful thinking but there ya go.
Oh and keep the sampling and ill conceived political rumblings to a minimum, please.
i think the farewell ministry album was animositisomina. it had almost everything you described… after that it seems ministry was more like al jourgensen’s solo records dedicated to his eternal love and muse - george bush. it’s interesting how will it turn out, however, because rio grande is basically more faster and more distorted houses of the mole. i wonder how the “sucker” will sound, probably total wall of noise. beacuse of the hi-freq distortion times three.

Ideas / thoughts?
Yeah, that sounds like something I could go for. I hope he still has a few tricks up his sleeve. I’d like to be surprised with one - hopefully there’ll be something totally out of left field. But I doubt it.
I don’t understand the sudden enthusiasm for speed metal, especially since it all sounds so hideously out dated. But maybe that’s the point - go against the trends?
I would like noise of burning inside type jams with more low end and crazy freaky “experimental” noises. So I guess what I’m wishing for is a mash between Burning Inside the harmonica Solo from FILTH PIG combined with the saxaphones (or is it clarinets?) of …Spoon. I love the frantic sax In 10/10. AND THE FREAKY sax (or is that clarinet) in Nursing Home. with the mix being somewhere along the lines of Filth Pig or …Spoon. I think those two albums have the best mix as far as low end outweighng the high end. you got change for my two cents?? I Love your Avitar, BTW PELIGRO.

Agreed, Ministry finished up in Feb 2004 when Paul announced he was out.
Yeah Animositisomina was sort of the real fairwell in my book, but my idea for this new album would be pretty cool I think.
Basically I want Al to do something very bizarre out of left field. I want him to make a very dark, almost gothic psychedelic rock album that is stripped down and focuses on acoustic guitars. This obviously probably sounds like shit to most of you but let me clarify:
It would be stripped down like Filth Pig and some tracks would be entirely acoustic. Minimal industrial sounds and programming would be used to create a sort of atmosphere behind the stripped down compositions.
There would be more of a classic rock/psychedelic feel of the album, but VERY minimal and stripped down. Emphasis would be placed on strange time signatures a la Animositisomina but with much more of a classic/psychedelic rock feel a la “Paisley”.
Think a mixture of “Paisley”'s classic/psychedelic rock feel with the dark, gothic element of “Kaif” (esp. the vocals), interesting time signatures a la “Impossible” and a sort of mystical quality to it like “Happy Dust”.
It would be musically complex but not at all abrasive or thrash oriented. Far more toned down, dark and stripped down to create more of a classic sounding record. I’d want it to be so stripped down and near-acoustic that Al’s vocals would be nearly clean with maybe a hint of delay.
No screaming or whatever for the most part and NO POLITICAL RANTING.
So basically think the psychedelic feel of “Paisley”, the gothic feel of “Kaif” and the epic/mystical feel of “Happy Dust” thrown into a blender and stirred to perfection with a more stripped down sensibility and two or three all out acoustic tracks like when he covered “Friend of the Devil” with really clean vocals and tons of reverb on everything.

I…FREAKING…LOVE IT. [sly]

Paul would do this kind of thing. Not Al.
Nice wish tho’.

With Sympathy Part Deux - complete with fake french accents
hell, he could release all the tracks that were left off with sympathy like never asked for nothing, love change, so-so life, etc. would be great to hear.
i would like to see the guitar become a secondary insturment.used more for filler and back ground noise.
i liked it when ministry was industrial with a hint of metal
not metal with a hint industrial.
