curious of what you fans thought of the two cds of the last dubber and rio grande dub as far as being MINISTRY fans here…
As a fan of Ministry, I personally think all this remiXXX bullcrap is a retarded money grab and just gets stupider and stupider.
I really can’t make any reviews of various tracks as I don’t even bother with them. I click on samples here and there when I come across them and have never really been excited by anything.
To me it is the ultimate act of laziness and reliance on an idiot fan base (ever-shrinking as it may be) willing to buy anything that Al may or may not have farted on.
Make an album and make it good. End of story.
Don’t then send the tracks to Erie Load and DJ Buttnugget, and tell them to cut it up differently so you can re-package the same crap and try to double-dip just because you want a jet ski.
very understandable there…
didn’t say they were great was just wondering what fans thought of them…wasn’t to impressed with buck satan and the 666 shooters cd and thought co-conspirators was not all that grand as well…just wanted some feed back w/some of my die-hard MINISTRY fans…

I’m kind of all over the place with what I like and don’t like by Ministry.
I’m probably the only one here that likes “RELAPSE” but don’t care much about TLS or RGB. “Cover-Up” was crap. I’ve not bought it yet, but I’ve enjoyed what I listened to of the Buck Satan album. It’s nothing amazing and neither country fans or Ministry fans would be blown away by it, but it’s a fun diversion. I probably liked about 40-50% of the tracks.
With all my crapping on the remiXXX stuff, I should note that I really dug the Remix of “Relapse” (the song, not the album). It was included with the CD which is, in my opinion, the only acceptable way to do stuff like this. Throw them out as party favors and put the remixes as B-sides or free downloads when you buy the CD or something.
Actually expecting people to pay for complete albums of it . . . . not cool in my book.
So, have you listened to the 2 remix discs in question? If so, what’s your opinion of them? Or are you just trying to get some input to evaluate whether it’s worth picking up?
I’m actually a fan of remix albums, but the problem with the Ministry Remixxx albums, to my mind, is that each one is done by just one guy. So when they come from one brain they all sound kind of the same and get dull quickly. The Sex-O Olympic-O remix album, on the other hand, is a much more interesting listen due to the multiple points of view you get from using lots of different remixers.
relapse wasn’t bad nor great but got all the goodies of what your talking about…i collect everything and everything by them…huge fan of AL…

That’s cool.
You should put up some photos of your collection or make a list sometime. Even if we don’t care about a lot of the individual items, a lot of us are still impressed with a proper collection and love geeking out on that stuff.
I’m curious why team-Ministry hasn’t spearheaded a proper Ministry tribute album (well, actually, now that I’ve read that I’m guessing it probably has something to do with paying Barker royalties which would be a deal-killer) . . . .
But seriously, I like hearing bands to their own interpretation and performance of other bands which have impressed/ inspired them. I really loved that Cleopatra AC/DC tribute that came out about 16 years ago, and even the Die Krupps Metallica Tribute was cool.
I guess I’m old school and want a band to actually PLAY, instead of some fatass sitting in a room twiddling some knobs and scratching a turntable. Anyway, I’m old and bitter and narrow-minded so take my rants with a grain of salt.
ministry/revco remix albums? i don’t like 'em
old ministry/revco singles with remixes (or rather extended/12’’ mixes)? i love 'em
I think the houses of the Mole mixx was actually good and I didn’t mind most of last dubber… I will tell you none of em get any rotation though. Didn’t care for the rio grand mises or the revco mixes

Love the hell outta the remix disc for Sex-O Olympic-O. Can’t say I’ve bothered with anything else.

I think I’ve read several comments by folks that actually think the remiXXX album is better than the original.

I might be alone on this, but I found the Remix albums to better than the actual albums. I like that they sound more dark synth and electronic, brings back some of the stuff I loved about the 80s Ministry. The actual albums themselves are just rehash, the only difference is being about Bush (assuming one can understand what the hell Al is saying half the time.)
I liked Relapse. I thought it was better than the Bush trilogy.
I’d like them more if it was possible to make the lyrics and some of the corny metal licks better. But that’s just wishful thinking.
I soon re-listen to them, maybe put the tracks side by side and see which one of each sounds better to my ears.
