Crap.

It’s ok. There’s already too many versions of this song for me to care one way or another.

The set also has tracks by Revco and Ogre. Cleo didn’t post a tracklist…does anyone know what these songs are?

Almost certainly a bunch of the same shit Cleopatra has been peddling on every compilation for the past 25 years. Notice that apart from the bigger names, it’s new Cleopatra signings nobody’s ever heard of and old Cleo standbys like Switchblade Symphony and Electric Hellfire Club (neither of whom have released anything in at least 15 years).

As for the remix, I’m pretty sure the Head Like A Hole similarity was a deliberate musical quotation.

Most of it just looks like random goth/industrial music compiled from previous Cleopatra releases.

now that’s a back-to-back!

Gravediggaz are on this? Huh?

Most of it just looks like random goth/industrial music compiled from previous Cleopatra releases.

Thanks for the tracklist! It doesn’t look like anything noteworthy.

It’s funny that they included Ogre’s version of Borderline. Now that I think about it, that Madonna tribute CD was on Cleo.

Now that I think about it, that Madonna tribute CD was on Cleo.

Cleo was doing those tribute albums all the time back in the day (maybe they still do). I actually thought they were fun for a while. I really liked the AC/DC one, at least.

The Cleo stuff has gotten progressively lazy, though, over the years. And like the REV noted, Cleo uses these things as vehicles to try and push whatever nothing bunghole artists they have signed on at the time, no matter how horrible . . .

As it happens, Connelly’s new album is on Cleo. Wonder why they didn’t include him? You know, if its all about pushing their artists.

The Gravediggaz thing caught me too, weird.

That AC/DC was a genuinely, unironically good tribute album. The first Metallica one was OK too, and a couple of tracks from the Cure and Dead Can Dance ones.

What Cleo’s doing here is trying to cash in on the minor “occult rock” craze that’s going on right now (Ghost BC, Uncle Acid, etc.) but since they don’t have any real occult rock bands they’re just scraping it together with whatever shit they happen to have on hand.

I’ll probably download the 1000 Homo DJs remix, 'cause I’m a completist, but there’s nothing else here worth owning that I don’t already have.

I rather like that remix. The last disc actually has Fostercare who is a really cool underground project. I’m impressed Cleo looked that deep.

I think they’re pulling more towards Witch House (rather than occult rock), albeit five years too late which is why they’re promoting Mater Susperia Vision as one of the names.

I don’t know if this is the one you’re talking about, but there was a DIE KRUPPS Tribute To Metallica which was really great, actually.

Ha, no but I have that one!
It’s so ludicrously cheesy. Apparently Lars loved it, though.

This is the one I’m referring to (Did Krupps is on it, actually).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blackest_Album:_An_Industrial_Tribute_to_Metallica

Cleopatra then put out at least two more Metallica tributes populated by bands I’d never heard of that I assume were recent Cleo signings.

EDIT: I just looked it up, and the Blackest Album sequels each had one or two “name” bands to go with the unknowns. Venom is on one of 'em!

I don’t think they were on Cleo, but I also dug that APOCALYPTICA (metal on cellos) stuff from a ways back. You know, because I’m sure you all were wondering.

Does anyone know when this remix was done or why? Initially, I assumed it was done recently. This horrible report kinda suggests it was a long lost, recently unearthed type deal. Just curious…

Was the author spying on them through a window or something? His writing is laughable, “Al, let’s scrap my vocal. This situation with TVT is just too weird and I can’t risk poking that bear with such a big stick”, i’m sure that is exactly how it happened. He writes like he’s working for some kind of ladies’ gossip rag.

To be fair the writer is an award winning music journalist who has a book out about the making of pretty hate machine and downward spiral, so those could potentially be quotes from Reznor.

The headline is clickbait. A “new” recording has not been “discovered”. As we all know, the Trent vocal version of Supernaut has been around for decades.

This remix is almost certainly a new one commissioned by Cleopatra - Die Krupps is one of their go-to guys for quickie remixes. He did a Haloween remix a couple of years ago and maybe a Stigmata one (can’t remember for sure on that).
