NYC show

Honestly I don’t know what anybody is complaining about. After last night’s show I’m sold, i just wish we’d get another tour or 2. And to those complaining about the lack of old songs, he DID write them really fucked out of his mind on drugs, and it’s not exactly fun to have to go back to that headspace every single night.

The band was tight. Very tight. I didn’t hear a single mistake or missed cue. And Burton just rips shit up. I swear I though he was gonna tear down the fence himself. I just was secretely hoping he’d do buringing inside… For those of you who don’t know burton and the singer wayne from static-x do a kick ass cover of burning inside. In fact i think al should just keep ministry going but give the vocals all to burton.

The covers were a good time. I mean, why take yourself so seriously. Al did a fantastic jig during under my thumb, that’s something i just hope somebody videotaped.

After the show I lucked out and got a setlist, met sin (overheard him saying whick bar the band was off to after the after showbut decided it wouldn’t be right to just crash the party), and got a guitar pic.

I just wish i had enough for the sweatshirt. ( really 60?) Instead I just got the patch and am gonna go all home ec and make one out of a zip up hoodie…

Oh and some guy threated to kic my ass cause he thought i was cutting him in line. I just wanted to get close to the price sheet they hang to see what to buy. He apparently thought I knew everything and just wanted to cut him in like. He was bigger then me, I kept walking and thankfully he had a smart girlfriend so nothing happened. (yes i’m a pussy)

on a scale from 1-10
1 being manson from this summer’s slayer tour sitting the chair and 10 being a david bowie show i’d give thie a 9… noww you figure out if that’s good or bad…

“…he DID write them really fucked out of his mind on drugs, and it’s not exactly fun to have to go back to that headspace every single night.”

See, that reasoning doesn’t really fly. Al’s been on drugs as far back as Rape and Honey, if not earlier. So why play songs from Mind and Psalm 69, when it’s been documented that Al was using back then?

The complaints are simple - it’s Ministry’s last tour, people want to hear a best-of, and Al was quoted saying they’d play 2-3 hours “like Grateful Dead” and “play all the hits”. It’s one thing if it’s '88 or '89, and Al only wants to cover two Ministry albums, but in 2008, there’s a lot more material to pick from for a set list. The current set list screws old fans who want a bit of nostalgia mixed in with the new stuff, and it screws new fans because they’ll never get to hear the old stuff live. Ever. Sadly, “old” includes 1996-2003.

If you liked the set and had a good time, that’s great, more power to you. But to act like you don’t understand why people are complaining is just silly. I can certainly understand those who like the set list and the covers, hey whatever, different strokes. Still, it’s no accident that there are an insane amount of negative reviews and upset fans on this tour. I’ve never seen such negative criticism of Ministry before, and it’s really unfortunate, especially for fans like me who have followed Ministry for 20+ years.

agreed pork…great show last night (may, 2nd). I’m pretty out of it today but I’ll post my version soon.

some of Taz’s review:

i think we were in line before 7:00 pm and idk how long we waited in line…20 minutes?..30 minutes? longer? i just don’t know. i was chattin’ up pissants and other fans around us, so i was having a good time. went inside (finally) and acclimated ourselves to the area. we kinda milled about for a bit, while awaiting a_c’s arrival (he was outside in the car, drinkin’ beers. ), and seeing if we could find any other pa’s. dickie, did you ever show up??? there were others, too, but idk what happened to them. i walked around in my shirt, so that if any were around, they’d see me, but…? so, hemlock played & messhuggah, and they were better last night than in philly, but i was just anxious to see ministry, so it made their sets seem too long. actually, i’m pretty sure they were longer than in philly, but i can’t be positive. then, ministry hit the floor & that shit got torn up! the energy was visual and everyone was pumped up. i had pissants around me, and it couldn’t have been better (unless more pa’s were there. ). oh, lemme backtrack a bit. yes, rob and firefright really were the instigators in the pit most of the time. firefright is a big dude, and man i wouldn’t wanna see him comin’ at me full force, without a lot of protection! whew! great guys, though, both of 'em…but i digress. ok, so back to ministry. i texted izzy the songs, so i wouldn’t forget the setlist. here it is:
let’s go
the dick song
watch yourself
life is good
the last sucker
no w
waiting
worthless
wrong
rio grand blood
senior peligro
lieslieslies
khyber pas
so what
nwo
just one fix
thieves
roadhouse blues
just got paid
under my thumb

i don’t really care what anyone thinks about the setlist, we still all had a good time. the pissants all had a really good time with each other & are already planning another meet (somehow). the band was in good form, smiling & having fun. the crowd went apeshit when they saw the band come out & start kicking ass. the fence was up, and sin even squeezed through the side of it a coupla times, edging towards the crowd (he was on the righthand side-stage left) and i was opposite.
finally, finally, finally i met the man! meet and greet after the show was a long line of people, wrapped around the top floor, and down the steps. we were pretty close to the front, along with jessabahx and her hubby (who drove up to montreal tonight to see 'em, after seeing the flyers game first! ), who were right in front of us; the last sucker; rob; firefright; and katie were right behind us. animosity was back a bit (thanks to the generosity of a complete stranger & some pa’s ). revco was down past rita somewhere, but we couldn’t see him.
