So seems that I’ll be heading that way in the near future with my wife and some of her friend’s and their husbands for a long weekend. Which, sounds all find and dandy, but not so much. The women all want to do girly ‘we need to have a martini’ at this place because it was from Sex and the City, and the guys want to do sporty ‘let’s check out MSG and go to a sports bar’. Ugh. Not that I don’t get along with them all, but I don’t really care about seeing those type of NYC landmarks.
So. Needless to say, I may have free time on my hands. Can anyone give me some advice on what I should do? I know CBGB’s is closed, so I can’t visit there again, and I’ll for sure make a stop at Generation Records…
Any other cool cd/record store, and cool clubs I should check out? Any good, yet unknown restaurants I should suggest?
Bleecker records is cool but you will lose a lot of cash there, lotta cool shit though. Bleecker Bob’s is decent too. The staff are very nice, and like Amoeba recommend picks if you ask.
Jekyll & Hyde’s is cute but it’s more of a place to take your date or your young kid(s). It’s like a PG-13 version of Chuck E Cheese.
If you hate sports avoid MSG and ESPN Zone, yeah. They’re really overboard.

Yes Other Music is cool too, it’s off Broadway in the city. If you take the wife clothes shopping, it’s in the vicinity. There’s a girl there who I suspect has F.A.S. but I swear she’s actually kinda cute and very hospitable.

as far as free stuff, walking the B-klyn bridge is actually really fun, and all along the NJ side of the Chelsea area there are some really awesome areas for pictures or to just enjoy the decay.
