Nursing Home "Cocaine Cliche"

Time for a new update from Nursing Home. Our new track “Cocaine Cliche” is now available at:

myspace.com/nursinghomeband

Lyrics:

White is the new black
I say it is and it’s true
I’m just a corpse with lipstick
Cocaine is all I touch

He’s got a great voice
A throat lined in white
But when there’s no snow
There’s no show
Refund your ticket
And go home

Cocaine Cliche

Do a line
Snort some more time
I’m wide awake and dead asleep
She’s a photographer
She bathes in bottled water

Are you a porcelain doll,
Or just china white?
Tell me your whole life story

Cocaine Cliche

Suck spit swallow
Pins and needles

Cocaine Cliche
(Can you get me high?)

(I’m so high)
Suck suck shooting pins and needles
Through the dollar bill in my nose
Spit or swallow
It’s all the same to me

Tell me your whole life story
I’m just a corpse with lipstick
Dead on the side of the road

the last pic makes you look like you sniffed that joker cosmetics from the first batman movie

So this is the man behind the paper bag. Awesome.

Checkin’ it out…

I hope you guys liked the song. Let me know what you think.

Cool, I like the track. It’s almost got a Cop Shoot Cop feel to the start of it, the chorus (“cocaine cliche”) line sounds a little Manson-y (in its shoutiness) to me, but not in a bad way. I think some of the breaks lack spice but otherwise this is a solid dirge-rock industrial track. You’ve come a long way from your early material, IMO.

Thanks Green Death. Yeah the chorus is definitely a Manson influence, but it is in 7/4 time and to my knowledge his boring ass has never stepped out of the 4/4 comfort zone. And the riff is a bit more grunge I feel than metal.

We tried to really challenge ourselves and do something with odd time shifts and more of a prog element. This is approach is going to carry over into more material for sure.

I have never heard Cop Shoot Cop. I will check them out.

Any Day Now and Slackjaw are fantastic songs From Copshootcop.

Nice tunes, nice pics. I plan on looking like that this weekend if you know what I mean.

Haha fucking awesome man and thank you.

My overall impression: Manson covering “Tonight We Murder.” Which is damned tasty.

Why the fuck haven’t I added you yet?

Good job, holmes. The sample at the beginning makes me giggle for some reason.

Thanks. “Tonight We Murder”? Really…? Well, I’ll take it.

The sample is from a wasted friend one night. Our former live drummer was recording him unbeknownst to anyone.

I too hear Tonight We Murder in there a bit, and that is a good thing. A very solid track void, good work guys.

Thanks man

I totally hear it.
And it’s definitely leagues ahead of the first stuff you posted here.

And I STILL don’t have the motherfucking right not to be offended.

Dude. This is fucking great.

Your music seems to be getting better and better.

This is way better than Manson’s current output.

You sound sort of like a cross between Barker and Manson.

I reckon ya should’ve started this band when you were writing songs like this. Wouldn’t have hurt to wait.

Don’t get me wrong, songs like MWAT were catchy and had some good ideas, but this is streets ahead of it.

Perhaps a reworking of MWAT and some of the older songs is in order?

Really love the guitar and bass sounds you’ve got going there. Sounds fucking amazing.

Not sure if the guitar solo at end was absolutely necesarry, but at least it was short and ended well.

Oh, and the piano section after it was fucking great.

Wow thanks for your comments man. Yeah Barker is a big influence. With the verses I wanted to do something like a ‘Dark Side of the Spoon’ vibe musically.

As for the guitar solo, it is meant to reflect the theme of the song i.e. cocaine-infused cock rock noodling like a typical hair metal bullshit solo. We wanted to fuck around more with this one. It’s actually two unrehearsed takes layered.

The thing with the band was I have only been doing music for a few years. So in college the band was my first time really collaborating with anyone.

We sounded much better live by the time we really gelled, but the recordings were never up to snuff because I didn’t really know how to produce yet and we never recorded the live drums, bass and some of the guitar parts that we were doing live (lack of capabilities, time etc.).

Now the band is disbanded since I graduated Syracuse and Nursing Home is back to just me and a long distance collaboration with our former keyboardist and this new guitarist whose a childhood friend. All the keyboardists contributions to “Killing an Arab” and “Cocaine Cliche” for instance, were done in one session in Delaware.

I’m going to use these 3 new songs (I have one more coming) along with some radically updated versions of the old stuff as a demo to attract members for a new Nursing Home Band.

I wish I wasn’t so disillusioned with music and musicians in general that I could be bothered going out and finding musicians or money to record. Good luck with it all, I’m pretty keen to hear the results.

I like very much the guitars & drums and the timing. The music is not a million miles from a Ministry song, the subject matter probably more Manson. As regards production this is the best song of yours that I’ve heard yet.

Forward march.
