*Absolute Sampler
*Garbage - S/T
*Radiohead - boot from 5/18/06 (Last Thursday at the Hammersmith, featuring 6 new tunes - available at dimeadozen)
*Bauhaus - Live in L.A. 10/28/05 (can’t wait to catch them next month!)
*Le Tigre - S/T (Lesbian/Feminist electro-punk that’s catchy as hell? I’m there.)
*Cocteau Twins - Victorialand (never a favorite, but it needed to go into rotation for awhile)
*Red Dwarf audio tapes (check out Myspleen.com for great torrents of weird cartoons, classic stand-up, etc. This is the reason I’ve been calling everyone Smeg-heads lately…)
*Tool - 10,000 Days
*My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult - Gay, Black, and Married (the first decent disco album, um, ever.)
*Passengers - Original Soundtracks
*Yoko Kanno - Macross Plus OST vol. 2
*Rockwell - Somebody’s Watching Me (really, no joke…I was digging through my cassettes the other day, and now it’s an '80’s party up in this bitch!)
And, of course, my daily dose of Ministry, though it’s mostly been Mind era stuff lately. I think I listened to “Breathe” three times today…
p.s. Voidhead - how is that David Byrne reissue? I actually have the original vinyl thanks to my cousin, but never bothered to get it on disc. Is there anything special about it? Or is the mastering at least decent?
p.p.s. anyone else notice there are now 666 threads? And here we are, coming up on June 6th, 2006…though the only thing heralding in this semi-interesting date is the not-at-all interesting remake of The Omen…lame, I tell you.
The re-issue of My Life in the Bush of Ghosts is actually pretty cool. I have only heard the original version of “Jezebel Spirit” or whatever but judging from that one the sound quality on the re-issue is 10 times better. It has a very glossy sound to it.
I believe they also included quite a few bonus tracks and I know they ommitted at least one of the original tracks that had been on there. All in all I think it’s definitely worth a purchase especially if you only have the original on vinyl and want to be able to listen to it on the go etc.

you must work really hard to listen to the obscure shit you listen to.

Jesu? Fennesz? Whitehouse? Nurse With Wound? Obscure? I’m assuming then that you don’t read much beyond ‘Metal Hammer’ or ‘Guitar World’.
Next time yr at the local independant record store or whatever the fuck, just head for the section that reads ‘Shit That Doesn’t Stink’.
It’s all there.[/reply]
you’ve posted your “on deck” listening 5 times in this thread and most of it is just one move away from the next. grow up, listen to artists because you actually LIKE what they do (a hook, a vocal line, etc) not because of what they SAY they are or because you want/need to be identified that you like them. you prob wear band’s shirts to let people know what kind of guy you are not because you like te artist. lighten up - slick.

I’m flattered that you’ve taken the time to follow my actions here, Patsy.

This is the dumbest reply to any of my posts ever.
Hang on - yr advising me to grow up and stop being an individual? That I shouldn’t make choices based on worthless traits such as intuitiveness or personal taste? That I should listen to what everyone else does and stop being a smartarse? And these bands that I show off by listening to, what do these bands ‘say they are’ anyway? Huh? You tell me? What statement are they trying to make by making the music that they do? By creating any sort of art, be it music, film or literature, you are automatically ‘making a statement’. So what’s yr point? I rarely if ever discuss music outside of internet forums anyway, as most of my friends aren’t into it.
Oh hang on, maybe they shouldn’t be my friends anymore since I’m obviously waaay too cool to be hanging out with uninformed plebs.
you prob wear band’s shirts to let people know what kind of guy you are not because you like te artist. lighten up - slick.
Band t-shirts? No. Although I have been known to lurk around the city centre with a placard reading ‘Brian Eno Is The Messiah’ tied around my neck.
I’ve been listening to an unhealthy amount of Lull lately, mostly Cold Summer and Journey Through the Underworlds. I still listen to Final’s “Solaris” nearly every day, and Dead Voices On Air’s “New Words Machine” as well. Some people pray everyday, or read the newspaper, or have their daily rituals, but listening to Solaris and New Words Machine is mine.
A storm will be coming tommorow, I’m predicting that I’ll listen to Techno Animal’s “Re-Entry”. All this talk of Broadrick will have me on a kick and I can see myself listening to the Godflesh e.p. all the way up to Silver with everything inbetween and on the side in the next few days.
Last I checked, at least Whitehouse and Nurse With Wound still fell under the “fairly obscure” category. If I asked any of my co-workers here, none of them would have ever heard or heard of either band ever in their lives. If I turned on the radio right now, odds are they wouldn’t be playing selections from “A Sucked Orange” or “Dedicated to Peter Kurten”. Not even on satellite radio. Not even on HD radio. Unless things have changed while I wasn’t paying attention…

That’s fucking classic! Thanks, I needed a laugh today…and sticking with the theme of this thread - I haven’t been listening to much except bootlegs lately. Live Ministry, Revco, Bauhaus, NIN, all the stuff I’ve seen live lately. Good times.
And Slacklove - dig the new avatar!
