Yup. Schools closed til at least may 1st.
As far as i know only essential services are running. Restaurants/fast food (take out only), grocery stores (limited hours) gas stations, postal delivery and emergency services. Other than that, zilch!
Good luck to you and your family. It’s getting tough out there. I have to fly back tomorrow due to the level 4 travel advisory (well we don’t have to but it’s safer too), so I’ll be in the midst of it soon.
Concerned for my agin parents and my good friend who has a lot of health issues.
Thanks, sir. We’re dealing ok. My wife is getting stir crazy and it’s only day 5
once the weather gets better I’m sure she’ll spend some time in the backyard, but right now it’s cold and windy.
You’re coming back, huh? I thought you were over there for good, setting up a new life. You’re in India right? I understand it hasn’t really hit over there.
Well good luck flying back. Wish you all the best.
No bread…
theyre putting the bread in the freezer. (the hoarders, that is)
This was sent out by my assemblyman regarding the state shutdown:
Dear Neighbors,
Last night at a press conference, Governor Gavin Newsom announced a statewide stay-at-home order to help reduce the threat of COVID-19.
Below is information on the stay-at-home order, per the Governor’s COVID-19 website:

Read the full Executive Order here (pdf).

Apparently bird flu is coming back now too!
possibly 2 pandemics? The earth is trying to shake us off.
People are hoarding the dumbest shit. Monkey see monkey do.
Toilet paper, meat, bread, milk isnt going to help you in a worst case scenario. Non-perisahble foods will tho. I havent reached that level of concern yet I’m still taking it week to week.
I found water and milk today. It’s like going on a scavenger hunt.
This thing completely changed our plans for now. US International Travel alert went to Level 4 which encourages all Americans return home immediately and India is shutting down all international Flight. We got the last flight out for the foreseeable future.
Right now India isn’t hit, but if it does get hit population density and lack of health infrastructure will be bad and a lot of people could be hurt. It wouldn’t be good to be an outsider then. Indians are super kind generally, but the last time we went outside to get groceries before isolating there, there were a lot of scared glances our way. And fair point, if every case was brought to India by Asians and White People, of course they’re going to be wary of a white dude and an Asian woman.
We’re hoping we can pick up where we started sooner than later, but for now all we can do is watch as it plays out.
My clients from Mexico were in Vegas all week (they followed through on travels planned for an expo that I would have been at as well).
They gave me live reports as the town and and Strip got shut down. They documented packs of police clearing Fremont St. And they showed me the generic letter slid under their door with a few hours notice that they were gettibg booted from the Four Queens hotel.
They went home late Friday night and were able to get their flight…
They had the plane to themselves.
As well as the airport.
If it does! Just saw the disease doubled in a week. We are over 300,000 world wide now.
They definitely need to clean that up but I think it’s been debunked that this is where it started. Besides those markets have been going for hundreds of years and just now something jumped out? That seems unlikely. The horrid conditions those people live in definitely need to be addressed, But the US is no better with our tent cities and substandard housing. This shit coulda started anywhere really. dirty and unsanitary is all over the world not just china.
Thought i’d drop this in here cause it was funny… How the hell is Bernie losing to Biden?? Shit’s rigged!!
TESTAMENT Singer CHUCK BILLY Tests Positive For Coronavirus
I tried Trader Joe’s instead of my local supermarket over the weekend, and it was a rather pleasant experience all things considered. I stood in a long line outside for about 20-30 minutes before being allowed in (with complimentary hand sanitizer and a wiped down grocery cart). The rules were simple - no more than 2 of any item and only 1 carton of eggs, 1 gallon of milk, and 1 package of TP. The store was well stocked and with the “crowd control” it was easy to navigate and get what we needed. Props to Trader Joe’s.
^ Yeah, clowns keep complaining about Walmart and Costco. Uhhh, STOP FUCKING GOING THERE!!!
Don’t know how many will know Manu Dibango here…he was a legend in the African music scene…had albums produced by Bill Laswell in the 80s…he just died from Covid19…he was 86 but still…
Sad bro …
He is a high profile producer(in the music world,at least) and bass player with a very wide reaching catalog…he has dabbled in every imaginable genre…since the late 70s when he arrived in downtown NY he has been involved in thousands of recordings…he’s produced everyone from Motorhead to Iggy Pop to Public Image Limited to Yellowman to Ramones to Mick Jagger and many many more…his first dalliance with fame was Herbie Hancock’s Rockit which he produced,co-wrote and plays on…he is extremely prolific and very talented…I’ve seen him in many different settings, always awesome…chances are you have heard lots of music over the years that he was involved in and just didn’t know it…
Yeah sure thing, man…I made the mistake in the 90s of trying to be a completist of all his work…an arduous task to put it mildly… an almost impossible task actually…
I work in a grocery store these days. I’m likely boned if things go any more south than they already are. My life has been a GRIND the last month. I’m beyond burnt and it’s all I can do to hold on to the few marbles I got rolling around upstairs, much less be well-rested, eat things that aren’t caffeine or nicotine, etc. and while I do get a certain amount of guaranteed sick leave and got a juicy raise, I still gotta go in, day in, day out, and just WADE through the storm.
I live alone and faaaar from family these days, which is truly a mixed blessing. On one hand, no one in my immediate household or family gets sick if I do! On the other, if I do get sick and it’s baaaad, looks like I’m gonna be going at it alone.
Times is tight, gang. Be nice to each other. Stay home if you can, be mindful if you can’t, and invest in a bidet.
