why would we blow them off the map? do you even know the repercussions that might entail for south korea? or the area in general? did you even think about it? probably not. no, they’re just blowing steam. can you really blame them? i could think of equally revolting regimes that are in bed with the west, but aren’t being treated with the disrespect like north korea is. it’s all about perspective. we don’t even know anything about them…
They’ve been doing this forever. But shit seem like it’s starting to get real. One part of me is sick of hearing these pathetic morons spout childish threats and wants to level them in 5 seconds like we easily could. The other part of me doesn’t want it to get to that point simply because of the amount of civilian casualties and the fact that the people there are actually being tortured already by their government. Then there’s that part where I want to help those people inside of North Korea and expose the gulag/torture camps/concentration camps/living hell, etc.
I guarantee you once we uncover the horrible shit going on there, all the torture and gore, and have photos and video, it will rival the reactions to the holocaust. And I’m not downplaying the holocaust either (the U.S. didn’t enter WWII to end that shit either).
This is one of those situations where the U.S. specifically is damned if they do and damned if they don’t. I hear so many people ask, “Why aren’t we/you helping them? Why aren’t we/you doing something about these atrocities?” and the minute we do we will without a doubt get shit for it. Our past in starting war(s) without a legit reason or under false pretenses really isn’t helping us on this issue.
We also have China to worry about - even though they seem to be getting sick of dealing with NK’s bullshit too. NK does have the ability to cause chaos on South Korea as well - which is a big deal. So, I wouldn’t downplay the sort of threat they are. They may not be a threat for those of us in the U.S. or in many, many other places around the world but they do have the ability to kill a lot of innocent people much like they have been doing for so long in their own country.
It’s a fucking mess. There will without a doubt come a point in time where somebody gets sick of North Korea’s bullshit and gives them a massive bitch slap. I can only hope it actually HELPS the people imprisoned there by their own government. What a hellish life those people live. I cannot even imagine it.
The U.S. will turn them into a parking lot in minutes, and they know it. It’s all about bravado and posturing in the DPRK. Kim Jong-un can eat a dick.

The story is kind of funny, because they also said South Korea just doesn’t care. Did anyone see last year (or maybe it was the year prior) when they tested some rocket? It looked like it was made out of tinfoil and LEGOs, and predictably blew up on launch as I recall.
Last week the story broke about them faking photos of military tests, which I thought was pretty funny.
This report also mentions the hilarious phony missiles they had made for some parades . . . .

That was the 50s though. Our technologies have leaped miles ahead since then. The main factor, IMO, is China. Having them pissed at us wouldn’t be such a good idea. North Korea is bound to implode though. Failed rockets, etc. I wouldn’t doubt something backfiring against them.

Exactly. Things have changed quite a bit and while NK doesn’t have the technology to do anything to us they do have the ability to fuck up areas of SK. However, even China seems to be getting sick of the bullshit. These idiots are causing unnecessary stress for China. They do not want to have to deal with this.
If China puts their hands up and says, “fuck it.”, and it does come down to us wiping them out, and I really hope it does not, it will be one of the most embarrassing asskickings in history.
