NIN 2007 Y34RZ3R0R3MIX3D

a decent enjoyable remix album for once.

of all the nin remix releases i find only Fixed enjoyable for myself. then agan i’m not generally fan of remixes.

although multitrack files should be awesome. waiting for someone to leak/post them.

speaking of remix albums, the new Foetus release seems pretty interesting:

  1. Pareidolia (Fennesz remix)
  2. How To Vibrate (Mike Patton remix)
  3. Mon Agonie Douce (J.G. Thirlwell remix)
  4. L’overture (Jay Wasco remix)
  5. Don’t Want Me Anymore (Tujiko Nuriko remix)
  6. Not Adam (Jason Forrest remix)
  7. Thrush (TRZTN remix feat. Jennifer Charles)
  8. Aladdin Reverse (Tweaker remix)
  9. Not in Yr Hands (Matmos remix)
  10. Corrodia Gravis (Tom Recchion remix)

Fixed is great, I thought Further Down the Spiral was good as well. Coil and Foetus always did a good job of taking Nine Inch Nails songs and making them into their own beasts. The new Foetus remix album is definitely worth picking up as well.

I picked this up the other day and like it pretty well. There’s a few disposible tracks but a number of excellent mixes. The Knife remix is going to piss off a lot of people but I quite like it.

The new NIN remix has some nices tracks on it, but it really doesn’t work very well as a remix “album.” Sort of disappointing after all the other cohesive NIN remix discs.
In contrast, the new Foetus remix is brilliant.

I thought the same thing as the Things Falling Apart release.

I’m not a fan of that remix in and of itself, but I am always happy to see remixes that completely obliterate the original song. Kind of surprised there weren’t more of those on this album.

I’ve managed to hear a few of the songs. I did enjoy the version of “The Great Destroyer” a bit. But judging by only the first three tracks, I won’t be buying this. I did like a good bit of Things Falling Apart, just didn’t enjoy the one-too-many versions of starfuckers. Further down the spiral and fixed are very mixed with me as well. I’m always curious to hear remixes though, because sometimes, just sometimes there’s something completely new and original to come out of it. I heard the version of Another Version of the Truth on this one is very nice though.

Totally agree. Way too many of the tracks on YearZeroRemixed sound like “hmm, what if this song had more boops and beeps in it?” While I’d definitely take anything off of Silent Shout over the “Me, I’m Not” remix, I still give The Knife credit for putting out a remix that gives me any reason to listen to it instead of the original version.

Has anyone else noticed this? But towards the end of The Beginning of the End, does it sound anywhere close to “Closer” or exactly like it. Seems like that ladytron likes Closer. I was at work, stopped and skipped back and realized it did. Might just be me, but I think it did.

Ladytron definitely threw the Downward Spiral piano theme in there. Yep.
