Since my team is out. Or actually didn’t even make it. (Quiet everyone).
Who’s going to win?
Grmpy - I know you are a Devils fan… but what will you do if it’s LA vs NJ in the finals? Going to support your hometown?
In my mind the kings and the devils are the 2 best teams in hockey right now.
My support will always be for jersey unless of course scott niedermayer is playing on an opposite team (ill always root for niedermayer no matter what team he’s on even the ducks!) but seeing has how’s he’s been retired for 2 years now I don’t have that problem.
I’m really hoping for a kings devils match up both of those teams are on fire and I hate to say it but I think the edge is going to the kings those guys are skating fast their passes are crisp their shots are on the money they a have a ton of momentum right now and jersey is in the same boat but the kings just seem to have more of it.
I like the kings ok. Their team has defiinitely been solid the last couple years but I HATE kings fans. Those people as a group are complete drunkard assholes. So out of spite to kings fans I hope the kings lose.
And out of loyalty to the team that turned me on to hockey I hope the devils win

I have never been more excited as a Coyotes fan than I am in these playoffs. They are the talk of the town right now, and their run has been awesome. All I’ve read in the sports press is how Phoenix is ‘not going to beat Chicago’ (4-2), and then Nashville (4-1), and now L.A. So far being the underdog is working out great for the Coyotes! I’m already reading online that L.A. is the clear favorite…and they’re and 8th seed! That said, they are undoubtedly the hottest team in the playoffs (8-1 against the top two seeds, amazing), and Quick will be the toughest goaltender yet.
I’m glad the Coyotes finally got the proverbial monkey off of their backs by getting out of the the first round. I think the Western Confernce Finals will be the best series of the playoffs, featuring the best goaltending matchup with Smith and Quick. Grabbing the 3 seed at the end of the season has paid off huge, Phoenix has held home ice advantage in every round.
Now if the Caps can knock off the Rangers, most of the top seeds will be out of the picture. At this point, I’m hoping for Phoenix-Washington, or Phoenix-NJ.

lifelong and devoted Devils fan here, and i for one REALLY hope to see some devils rangers action. just sayin. if only to shut up all the freakin rangers fans i know. haha.
Pulling for Ray Whitney and the Coyotes. Been exciting playoffs so far.
I don’t know much about Phoenix anymore now that they traded brizgolove (sp?) Brizgolove is good but I think Quick is clearly the stand out goalie but martin (not gonna try to spell his last name) has got experience and is still a premiere goalie for being a 40 old. I think watching the youngin’ and the oldin’ tend the net will be a good battle in itself if kings devils head it up!!

martin is not only a living legend, but still a fucking powerhouse player. this last set against the flyers was nice to watch, the smashing was a real pleasure for us Devils fans haha.
its funny, i just recently came back to New Jersey for an extended visit, and i am suddenly seeing all these Devils flags, hats, shirts, and stickers everywhere… i have been a devils fan for a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time, and i remember always having to argue with fucking islanders/rangers/bruins fans everywhere… buncha front-runner punks in my old town, i tell ya what.

I haven’t seen the Devil’s play this good in a long time. the last couple of years that we’d had center ice, and i would remember to watch, they would get destroyed!!
but this play off team… man, They kinda remind me of the devils that destroyed the ducks way back when. when Gomez, Niedermayer, stevens, elias, friesen, and brodeur spanked anaheim for the cup. When Steven’s actually knocked Paul Kariya out cold at the blue line!!! But the Kings aren’t fluking their way into the cup like anaheim. The Kings, I think, are for real.
I was so glad, NEVER EVER play the puck, Patrick Roy called it a day. That hack always stole Brodeur’s (yes I looked up the spelling… always thought there was an X in his name) thunder, and it used to piss me off that sports commentators used to always put the two in the same category. PPPffffft as if!! Brodeur has like 25 nhl records to Roy’s, like, 2! “patrick who?”
You’re right, Brodeur is a living legend but Quick is… well… Quick, as in fast! I think that goalie match up is gonna be sweet, if it ends up devils Vs kings.
The real measure will be if Quick lasts 20 years and is still on point at age 40. but right now Quick is good!
The two best NHL players in the history of the NHL have come from the devils. Scott Niedermayer best defencemen and Martin Brodeur Best Goalie.
Loving these playoffs but hoping the devils don’t go soft waiting around for the rangers or caps.

Kings up 2-0 over coyotes and I have a feeling they are going to sweep them.
The devils just tied the series up with the rangers. the devils looked on point again tonight. The Rangers are hanging tough but I think their real strength is in their goalie if he breaks down they’re toast, granted they kept the devils shotless for 10 minutes this game but the devils were in the rangers zone for the better part of that 10 minutes.
I really hope we get a Kings Devils cup. Both of those teams are solid and I’ve noticed that both the kings and devils seem to play better as the game winds down. While the rangers and coyotes are slowing down from fatigue the devils and kings are stepping it up.

if you look at the whole season the devils and rangers have faced off an even number of times, and they are tied right down the middle. so that makes this next upcoming game soooo freaking powerful.

man, i would be the happiest if this went undefeated. the happiest.
This is Gary Bettman’s wet dream. Two of the biggest US markets playing each other in the finals.
Kinda think LA will take it as they will be well rested.
But I’m going for the Devil’s because of Brodeur. (Local boy and all).

Yes but they have had MASSIVE amounts of rest maybe they will be stiff.
If they play the same way they’ve been playing all through out the playoffs I think the Kings have it. It’ll be close but I think the Kings just look slightly better on the ice.
All that aside I’m still rooting for the devils and still will be happy watching great hockey!

I’m hoping they don’t get swept! The kings have dominated the flow of the game. The Devil’s can’t get passed the Kings’ defensive lines let alone Quick. Their only score last night was luck. So, really all over time was, was a race to see if the Devils could luck another goal in before the Kings wore down the Devil’s Defensive line.
What’s disappointing is neither team is playing like they did in the games prior to the cup. If the Devils were playing like they were prior, the Kings wouldn’t have a chance! Both teams are so incredibly slow now.
I just hope the Devils can get their shit together and start playing like they had been. I didn’t think the Kings were that much better than them.

i still honestly dont think the kings are a better team, i think they have had more time to relax and regroup after their games leadin gup to here, AND i think they have been playing in a far less violent division. the devils have had some of the most violent games of the past few months, easy, and there is a lot of wear and tear on the guys as a result, that coupled with a 4 or 5 day break between the vicious rangers final game and the first of the cup… thats a lot for a team to deal with.

I really think the Kings had the edge coming in but not because of the 5 day rest period or anything they just looked like the better team, faster skating, crisper passes, harder checks, better marksmen on goal. A fucking younger version of Broder in the net…
but now it just seems both teams are skating in slow motion with the Kings having a more than clear edge over the Devils and that sucks. I hope both teams step up, right now it’s like watching a bunch of geriatrics on skates.[mad]
