New song "Antifa"

http://loudwire.com/ministry-new-song-antifa-live/

Some neat guitar riffs here and there.

Huh?

Yeah, huh?

I was under the impression that “Antifa” was short for “anti-fascism”.

Pretty sure being anti-fascist is a good thing.

Exactly…

I’ve only ever heard the term used to describe anti-fascism…and given Al’s stance toward the current regime i feel pretty confident in thinking that’s what was intended with its usage…kinda confused by your post, dust…

Ah, ok. . .well it sounds like when those Tea Party assholes call themselves Liberatarians. They’ve hijacked a term. Like the Skinheads did.

Also: Isn’t Marduk a Nazi band though? Feel like I heard that before. So. . ?

Yeah. I only recently learned what this Antifa stuff was too. I think, as Acid suggested, that it was originally just a generic term of being anti-fascist. But groups formed and took a more direct approach which was not always health or even rational always.

Things kind of hit a boiling point last month when Antifa (or a local action group thereof) clashed violently with supporters of Trump in Berkeley. Some of the skirmishes were comical and slapstick in nature, but there really was a heavy level of violence and chaos from both sides (Antifa SEEMED to be the primary antagonists in most cases).

Anyway, it’s dumb to assume AL’s intent or meaning for the song. We don’t know if it’s a rally cry or speaking from the point of view of someone “pushed too far” or what. We don’t even know if Al knows what the current implication of Antifa is.

And even if he is supportive of these troublesome hoodlums, who cares? Do we need to do background checks on everyone before we buy a CD? If Al kills my family or steals my bike I’ll consider boycotting him and his art. But singing about some wild hippies throwing bottles in the street . . . hardly a reason to curl up and shit myself.

In the Bay area, none-the-less. Isn’t there a group to pretty much protest anything up there?

And yeah, remember when Al was a 9/11 Truther? That didn’t stick for long.

Next your gonna tell me N.W.O. wasn’t written about the wrestling federation…sheesh

This is a pretty funny thread. Imagine Al becoming more controversial than being steak ‘n’ potatoes controversial. It’s like “The Producers”! Haha!

Performed in Greece.
I’m actually starting to really dig this song.

Its a cool song…I am actually looking forward to this album, aside from the ridiculous title…

This whole thing is too funny. Shitty people hijacking the term aside (which is absolutely a problem but not a discussion I wanna get into right this moment), people getting so damn worked up about it and swearing off Al’s music like the same petulant children they’re calling people for dumping on nazi-imagery metal bands with no concept of the irony is amusing.
I (personally at least) most consistently see anger towards the antifa movement being over their treatment of Milo Yiannopopolopopasnuffleupagus and his whole pedophilia-defense thing and it’s just surreal because you know if it were literally anyone else saying the things he did, then the anti-antifa crowd would be howling for their blood just as much.

Anyway, liking the song well enough and looking forward to the album

I have no clue why Jourgensen would support those angry fucking booger eaters who seem to have too much time on their hands. Legit booger eaters btw, they all look fresh outta high school… but whatever. You do you Al.

All the goofy Antifa shit aside, the song is great. Has me excited for the album, but I probably shouldn’t get overly excited as their last couple of albums have done absolutely nothing for me.

Sigh… Wouldn’t surprise me if this thing is filled with generic riffs and the usual uninspired post-Barker fuckery with Antifa being the lone track I really dig.

There’s a recurring trend every few albums of one of, if not the weakest track on the album being the one that gets put out there first or most prominently (Over the Shoulder, Lay Lady Lay, Piss, LiesLiesLies, goddamn fucking 99 Percenters…) so without setting my expectations too high, I think there’s some hope that the album will be pretty good overall

Hey, I love Piss…

Well that doesn’t sound good…

Hey, I love Piss…

Well that doesn’t sound good…

I really like Lay Lady Lay, too. It would seem his list is a bit off.
That aside. I know nothing of the Antifascism Vs Metal argument… But on the surface I would think groups that try to shut down hate speech or racists ideologies don’t sound like morality police at all. Now if that’s not what they’re doing then obviously it’s like what acid said they’ve stolen a label and misrepresented themselves and that’s unfortunate.

Mind you I only became aware of them about a month ago, but Antifa is pretty funny. For the most part, they’re hyped up fragile hippies who need their safe space and are apparently willing to defend it with bottles, rocks, and pepper spray.

They look like your typical anarchists or even those knuckleheads that used to run around letting the AIDS monkeys out of their cages to run wild through the city.

In concept it ain’t no big thing, really . . . . opposing Fascism. Yeah, sounds alright to me. But they don’t really achieve anything beyond making Trump supporters (or anything remotely conservative leaning) look civilized and underdog by comparison.

Almost all of the videos online that I find are them getting bent out of shape because someone has an opposing viewpoint about something . . . . but the tragic thing is, when confronted and asked to express what THEIR viewpoint is, they really have nothing to say and can’t articulate a single thought, so they just scream and call people bigots.

I’m no Trump supporter by any means, but groups like this are just moronic. And, yes, whoever called them booger eaters is pretty on the money. You got a bunch of scruffy sensitive vegan losers who suddenly feel a bit of bravado because instead of being at the nerd table with 4 other cast offs from Lamda Lamda Lamda they’re now in a park with 100 other booger eaters.

But they just make a lot of noise and maybe a mess. They don’t effect any change. I suppose if there is anything that could be identified as something they actually achieve it would be visibility. They obviously are making it more apparent that our country is kind of fucked up and sadly the ones that may be most wanting to do something about it are also the biggest idiots and have no understanding of anything or direction.

Anyway, all that out of the way, I’m not at all threatened or offended by the song, no matter how much Al might think these nerds are heroes. I think in concept it’s a great topic . . . . a mob of vigilantes out to smash Nazi skulls. But sadly it’s just not that impressive . . . and they’re not attacking Nazis. They’re just flailing aimlessly at anything with a red hat or anything else that makes them cry.

So. . .Crass fans, basically?

Haha!!!

I was actually going to mention the “Peace Punk” scene of the early 90’s, but was afraid it may have been too localized (we had a cluster of them in the OC area) but, yeah, it’s probably easier and just as accurate to just call them CRASS fans. Besides, aside from their overly dramatic fashion, the “peace punks” around our area actually were fairly peaceful. They mostly handed out sensational fliers and organized concerts which supposedly benefited some charity (Food Not Bombs was always popular) or action group.

It should come with a rabbit-hole warning, but if you just type “Antifa” into ayouTube you’ll find plenty of videos, none of which I’ve seen yet that actually show these clowns in a positive light.

Still better than anything on FBTE
