Really diggin the new release…the best in many years…more singing and less screaming. You can hear some earlier style in a lot of the songs.
its not bad but has some flaws. one is the production, which is their worst in years - yet more brickwalled bullshit. another issue I have is the more extreme songs, which might be pretty fast and aggressive for Slayer, but are pretty tame in comparison to newer bands. I dont think Slayer needs to compete with new bands.
But otherwise, its a pretty good Slayer album
Is it out?!?!
Is this that one with the red cover? Can’t think of the name… but I saw some Slayer cd which I assume is the one you are referring to the other day. Had a bonus dvd which was a 15 minute video from someone inspired by the music on the cd… wouldn’t mind checking that out.
Allegedly Slayer are the final announcement for Soundwave next year, I’ll believe it when I see it. They were just here, apparantly Tom shot his voice so a few cities got Slayer instrumental.
yeah…it’s out.

Tom’s voice been shot for well over a decade now
Sadly, for the last 5-6 years Slayer have been significantly declining in quality as a live band, which is a real shame considering they used to be, well, probably the best live metal band out there. Particularly Tom is suffering from old age.
worth getting just for the bonus dvd in my opinion… it’s this sort of animated murder story set to slayer music from the cd… i haven’t really absorbed the music disc enough to commment… granted the last one before this (christ illusion) was just an ok release, I thought god hates us all was one of thier best. the last track alone on that cd was worth the price of admission.
Thankfully the few tours they did with manson didn’t rub off anything on them.

Maybe just MM’s rider [;)]
First Slayer song I heard was Bloodlines I think, and first album was God Hates Us All on red vinyl, still got that, love it.
I bought a stolen copy of the cd though for 1/3 of the price of it new… now I feel bad.
Had a group of kids at my high school that used to go to the local department store that was a 5min walk away, steal as much as they could, come back to school smash open the cases and sell or trade the haul… the store finally caught on a re-organised it’s CD department
I’m enjoying it. needs a few more spins. I think it is one of the better “new” Slayer albums.
