ohGr is the band formed by Nivek Ogre, of Skinny Puppy,
and musician/engineer Mark Walk.
The band was officially formed in 2001,
although the material for the first album,
“Welt” dates back to the mid-nineties,
having been held up due to legal trouble with American Recordings.
Al Jourgensen was also originally involved and only one track he collaborated on has been leaked to the public, titled “Noreen”.
The music of that song later became industrial metal group Ministry’s “The Fall”, on their 1996 album “Filth Pig”. [/b][/size]
great news!!! can’t f-ing wait.
i’m also hoping for a tour.
the sp clan always makes it here to ATL.
in fact, they came twice on the GWoTW tour,
and on the ohgr tour he made it through here.
I’m a huge skinny puppy fan, but i also really enjoy how ohgr’s 2 cds were a nice seperate entity from his SK work… alot more kinda twisted poppy… not just dark dark
then again if you want a taste oh oger’s true talent download his cover of madonna’s borderline
When I was in college I had to quit going to concerts b/c I was so f’ing broke. I missed Ohgr/Hate Dept., the last real Ministry tour in '03, Tool on their Lateralus tour, KMFDM/Pig, NIN/APC…goddamn I’m gonna go drink my sorrows away.
I remember Michael Balch (ex-FLA) in an interview said that he helped out on the original WELT material while he was a member of the Ministry camp. Then after Al was out it was to be Ogre, Raven and John Bechdal, until Raven went behind Ogre’s back and got a publishing deal or something like that. I wonder how much stuff was actually recorded, or if Noreen is the sole output?
guess i’ll have to call in some favors here with senor ogre. in private i have another name for his canadianness.
known that guy for a long time.can certainly name most of the girlfriends…
I thought that the last two Ohgr albums’ best tracks sounded like weak outtakes of the good songs off the last Britney Spears album but with tough lyrics. I’m not joking actually, the last Britney album has cut-up electro-pop with vocoder and chopped vox down way better than Ohgr…
I do love ol’ Skinny Puppy and Ogre is great. But I’m not so big into the new stuff and not much into Ohgr’s solo project. The trailer for “Repo: The Genetic Opera” looks fairly abysmal (finally, we can see Ogre and Paris Hilton share a scene together!) and it’s directed by the fellow who brought us all the Saw sequels which just doesn’t float my boat.

ed, do you remember a girl he dated after Cyan Meeks named Paula, from Florida I think?!? Polite nice girl really long platinum blonde hair. I got to hang out with her and Ogre for awhile at a club in '91. Just curious because I know he didn’t end up marrying her.
