I’m digging the artwork. The song is a B+ for me. There are weaker songs in the NIN catalog, but it works as a single. The teaser singles generally are weaker songs on the album, so I’m optimistic.
The only thing that reminds me of pretty hate machine is the vintage yamaha synth sounds towards the end of the song, but that’s about it.
i dunno where you people hear these “phm” or “tds” similarities or overtones, or whatever. it sounds like typical “year zero/the slip” outtake or something.
kind of like how studio versions of “non entity” and “not so pretty now” have totally “with teeth” sound to them, probably started during the album sessions, but got finished later.
