New Morbid Angel

I’m trying to hold back from saying it sux but you should get the idea if I’m not saying it yet. They’ve decided to mix industrial with this one. I haven’t really gotten thru the industrial stuff yet but so far I’m not impressed. It sounds hella mainstream and watered down compared to their classic shit. It almost reminds me of slipknot at moments. I’m not gonna bother posting links to it on here. Search for yourself and you’ll see what I mean.

It sucks. No Pete + Vincent wishing he was playing in the wife’s band.

Interesting. I may have to check it out just for chuckles.

I was a huge Morbid Angel fan back in the day and loved the first four albums (Altars, Blessed, Covenant, and Domination) but stopped following after that.

What letter are they up to now anyway?

Pete didn’t play on this album bc he’s still recovering from back surgery. And it ain’t really that industrial.

They are up to I.

Only I? I thought you were gonna say “M” or something. They slowed down a bit on their output, huh? Didn’t “Heretic” come out like like 6 or 7 years ago?

Recent MA convert here, picked up “Covenant” on a whim a few years back and fell in love with the band. Still can’t wait to catch them live.

This is causing “St Anger” levels of fan backlash which is even more disappointing I guess because their last album (eight years ago!) wasn’t the most pleasing release. Honestly doesn’t sound too terrible to my ears, not worth completely writing the band off (“Nevermore” is a strong song) but the idea of fusing so-called industrial sounds into a death metal format is really archaic in this age.

HAHAHA!!!

“Hey, guys! We need to modernize our sound.”
“Okay, let’s make it ‘industrial death metal’!”
“You mean like everyone did in 1993?”
“Uhhh, yeah.”

I listened to the samples on amazon. Didn’t sound bad to me, but I’m not a Morbid Angel fan, so what do I know?

Yeah I think Dave Vincent came back shortly after Heretic but they basically toured for years and worked on this new album for a long time. The only good song on there is Blades For Baal. The more metal driven trax are mediocre and the industrial trax just don’t work for them. The closing track RadiKult is, in the words of Bill S. Preston Esquire, most non triumphant. And that’s an understatement.

DUDE! You just quoted Bill S. Preston, Esq. I might have to make you my best friend.

I just searched for some of the new tracks. This one is pretty sweet . . .

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Okay, I found the actual “RadiKult” song. I couldn’t finish it (got about a minute in).

What is this crap? He’s like metal-rapping about being hardcore and radical or some such nonsense?

This is bad, like Pitbull Daycare BAD!!!

And yes there will be Bill & Ted pt 3

This is bad, like Pitbull Daycare BAD!!!

I hella forgot about those guys. That’s pretty low. I can only remember their one single. Based off of that I didn’t understand why they opened MasterBaTour. I heard they were horrible live.

And this is coming from a guy who likes Cradle Of Filth and Iron Maiden.

And H.I.M. . . don’t forget H.I.M.

I didn’t forget H.I.M.

Now…where did I put my biro?

I don’t get how anyone can like this album, and yet knock Jourgensen’s recent efforts, I really don’t.

The only way to deal with this album is to just laugh at it. It actually is genuinely funny when you do look at it that way.

Look up ‘Destructos’. It actually sounds like someone making fun of metal and all it’s associated cliches and doing a good job of it, mind.

This is worse than when all those 80’s hair metal bands tried to go grunge in the mid 90’s.

Remember the time Celtic Frost went hair metal?
