I’m sure it will be the cat’s ass. Although I’ve heard some Jesu finally (I went to Amazon and listened to their samples). I’ve got to say I’m not impressed…tracks 4 and 5 (Transfigure and Weightless and Horizontal) of “Conquerer” sounded as if they could’ve been on a Foo Fighters album; specifically the “Colour and the Shape”
The artard that wrote the editorial is pretty plastic as well: check out this hack’s review…He tries to sound very intellectual but fails at it…Honestly, I give it 2 thumbs up for EMO garbage and 2 thumbs down for music.

sigh, jesu isn’t a band you can really get from short samples just go download the fucking albums, and if you like them, buy them. the s/t jesu record is a monster. conqueror - not so much, it’s too pretty. if you don’t like slow, drone-ish, stuff, it likely won’t be up your alley.

what would the jesu pez dispenser look like?

what would the jesu pez dispenser look like?

Broadrick

More importantly - what would it dispense?

Pez

NO offers to step in at the 11th hour and retract your negative comments about Jesu will be entertained; thank you.

So i got this three page apogoly all edited for nothing? STUPID, STUPID ME

Yipes, between this and that new Coil release of Ape of Naples/Backwards I’m going to be totally broke from buying import box sets. Still, it’s worth it. I’m still listening to Final 3 a lot and never tire of it.

What is this Backwards/Apes release? I looked on Threshold House and saw nadda.

Not sure why Sleazy hasn’t updated the Threshold House site, but it’s available elsewhere. Check it out…

pricey, but worth it!

You are going to seriously base your judgement about any band on crappy and short sound samples?

Read this thread for some more discussion on the band:

I ordered the box set and can’t wait. I did enjoy Final 3 a lot.

I was walking around Chicago the other day with a jesu shirt on and had, not kidding, about 10 different people comment on it. They’re bigger than I thought, as are Pelican (but they’re from here so doesn’t count). Justin produced Pelican’s live DVD… Next time Justin is on tour, I’m going to try to get him for a DJ set here in Chicago.

If people are into Red Sparrowes, do check out Tristeza. Quite well known here in that crowd.

[Next time Justin is on tour, I’m going to try to get him for a DJ set here in Chicago.

I hope there wouldn’t be any “Industrial” fans in the club as the set you’d get from Justin would be strictly Hip Hop/Drum’n’Bass/Dub and Dubstep.

And that’s fine - I figured he would. I wouldn’t be surprised if he also ends up playing some mstrkrft, justice (seeing them tomorrow), boys noize, etc. These “Industrial” clubs/fans are now playing a lot of dance stuff anyhow.

I can assure you he wouldn’t be playing Justice or anything remotely similar.

Yeah probably not but I meant he would (hopefully) spin music not in the same vein of Jesu. Talking of Justice, does anyone have the remix they did of “We Are Your Friends” to Ministry’s Just One Fix. From URB:

The vocals from “D.A.N.C.E.” are played at length but accompanied only by Augé’s lonely piano, interrupted by a dissonant minor-chord swell before veering off into MSTRKRFT’s buzzing synth remix. Later, the pair [Justice] navigates out of the good time sing-a-long of “We Are Your Friends” with a brutal eight-bar guitar riff lifted straight from Ministry’s industrial-metal hit, “Just One Fix.”"

They even spin Just One Fix in their DJ sets apparently.

Obviously the samples don’t represent the whole song BUT what was posted didn’t make me want to investigate further…Sorry
Unless the Music takes a ridiculous turn somewhere you can pretty much gauge the style of music it is from the crappy sound samples…I just don’t hear the pounding droaning beats that Jizzy swears by. Honestly “Conquered” sounded like EMO crap. Big sweeping Keyboards, light airy samples…just not my cup of tea. I was expecting something along the lines of “party” (Rave) music…or something like “Breathe.” Instead, I got “Flock of Seagulls” hits a brick wall. If I find a used CD somewhere I’ll pick it up just to Justify the samples I’ve heard. If I’m wrong I’ll come back and swing on Jizzy’s Nuts and swear by the Stellar Pimp that Jizzy Calls Broadrick.
Suggest a song…I’ll download it and not just listen to a sample.

i dont really like the more recent Jesu output either, although the first EP and LP are great. so perhaps you should check those out.

the final box sold out.

there is a decent difference in the early jesu vs what he puts out now (especially pale sketches), but if you didn’t like conqueror i doubt you’d love the s/t album a whole lot more.

but maybe check out “friends are evil” or “we all faulter” off the s/t cd and see if you like those.

I totally disagree. I enjoyed the s/t album and even ‘Silver’ EP (minus one of the tracks…maybe the first one…where he started to go Emo on me)

And I still think ‘Conqueror’ is a total piece of shit. I mean that album REALLY FUCKING SUCKS. The melodic vocals remind me of a fucking monk singing in a Church.
