Muhammad was a Terrorist

Just wanted to let you guys know my Industrial/Noise band Nursing Home have self-released our debut album ‘God Bless America!!!’

We’re active around Syracuse University and have been harassed in recent weeks by the local thought police.

Anyway our single “Muhammad was a Terrorist” is up on our myspace page

If you like what you hear I’ll send you a free copy of our CD just let me know.

Adios!

I don’t know whether your title was done in humor or not, but I am curious as to know why people are labeling the Prophet as a terrorist? This is just propaganda - when they talk about the violence done in the name of Islam, they forget how much more violence was done by Christians in the name of Christianity.

Ask the general population who label Islam as a religion of terror to define the pillars of faith or the difference between shafi, shia, or sunni Islamic teachings they come up short. <sarcasm>Yet of course they are scholars on the Muslim faith.</sarcasm> Hell, most couldn’t point out Damascus or Mecca on a map. Such is the way of the world. We all tend to jump on the bandwagon around the water cooler no matter what topic it is. Human ways, I guess.

I’m pretty sure the title was done in satire, so no harm done. I dig the music, although I would love to hear a live recording if you could get a hand on one. Seems like it could be alot more entertaining and powerful live.

I’m as funny and openminded as anyone, but I fail to see how anybody could see the humor in this.

Just delete the post and be done with it, Afra. Nobody needs to be antagonized by this kind of stupid, naive shit.

Thanks bud. Actually I think blatantly censoring me would be pretty stupid and naive now wouldn’t it?

And it would be pretty stupid and naive to not listen for the lyrics of my song before judging it wouldn’t it?

But you’ve advocated the former, and done the latter, so who is stupid and naive now?

The song, if you care to analyze, is not some attack on Muslims.

It’s about the failure of both sides in this conflict (in this case the West and radical Islam respectively) to see above black and white levels of “right and wrong” and realize that neither is justified completely in their actions and both are partially at fault.

Lyrics:

“We drop bombs on Lebanon.
We know that they are wrong.”

“We flew a plane into the Pentagon.
We know that they are wrong.”

Those two lines give it away.

But then again, why bother analyzing anything when you can just blindly condemn it as “stupid naive shit” and advocate its censorship.

Because then you’d be proving the song’s point anyway. Where do you think I got the name of the song? It is a reference to the Danish cartoons depicting the prophet with bombs in his turban that were blatantly censored across America.

And they were censored by people like you who think we should just delete all information we don’t agree with because it might be offensive to somebody.

“Openminded”? I think not.

You’re right 100% Thanks! Yes the live version is a lot more powerful…just one of those tracks that has a lot of energy to it and it’s hard to capture it with a recording.

If you’d like a copy of the whole cd just PM me your address as I am mailing a shitload of them out this week.

Deleting a post titled “Muhammad Was a Terrorist” regarding a song called “Muhammad Was a Terrorist” does not amount to censorship. Depriving a person or peoples of their rights by restricting their (single or collective) voice …that’s Censorship. You’re free to write the song, to publish it, to perform it and to stick it on myspace. I can’t see how you’re being censored.

If your aim was to point out that blame should be shared by both sides on the issue of terrorism, that’s noble. But frankly, after listening to the song, it was never apparent to me. Even after your explanation of the above lyrics, it’s still not apparent.

Frankly, I’d feel the same if you said “Bush was a Terrorist” or “Jesus was a Terrorist”.

So I apologize for misunderstanding the song as you meant it to be.

In any case, the meaning is still murky, and the title is at the very least, divisive.

thought i’d also mention my own myspace profile:
