mp3.com Interview

More ammo for the firing squad: Al says the new RevCo is the best album he’s EVER made, better than anything by Ministry, Pailhead, Lard, etc.

This was recorded before the Frisco show. The interviewer seems pretty cool. Al is asked about what they play, and his answer is a little dodgey.

I love the bald spot on Al’s head that he didnt manage to cover up this time with the fake dreads.

I think so too. Why would anyone think different? Have you even heard it? Stainless Steel what???

He talks about With Sympathy without anger which was cool to see.

7.55: Al: “It’s a lot of old and a lot of new.” (referring to the songs they are playing on tour). He goes on to say he’s not a jukebox after people complained they didn’t play this or that.

Interesting. Hmmm…

Yeah, we’ve all heard that before…

He’s said the same thing about just about every post-Barker release… “This is the HEAVIEST shit yet!” blah blah blah

I find it truly hard to believe he considers TLS to be one of the best albums he’s made… Fucker’s just interested in his retirement money.

I understand an artist’s enthusiasm. I’ve heard it a million times before, where the newest album is the ‘best we’ve ever done’…nothing new there, and that’s great that he’s so jazzed about it. I have to instantly write that comment off, without hearing a note of the new RevCo, because of Last Sucker, Cocked and Loaded, Cover Up, etc. How far off can the new RevCo be from what Al is writing these days? Has anyone heard the two new songs on the VIP sampler CD? Is there even a hint at good music coming from the new album? With Ministry, it’s pretty safe to assume these days.

In regards to Al’s dodgey answer to the set list, I just wish the guy interviewing him had dug a little deeper, and maybe asked what albums he’s covering on this tour, or how did he come up with the set list, or is he avoiding any albums for any particular reason… This guy hadn’t seen the show, so it’s possible he had the same expectations of a lot of fans. He even asked, “So you’re covering ‘everything’?” Al’s answer was too vague: “I hear fans saying, ‘why didn’t you play this song or that song?’”…yeah, that happens at every concert. Hell, I was asking why Skinny Puppy didn’t play “Addiction” on the last tour…bands can’t come up with the perfect set list, I know that. I just think Al could’ve been a little more forthcoming. but I could see the expression on his face when answering. He didn’t want tell the guy, ‘look, the main set is the last 3 albums, then we throw the fans a few bones in the first encore, but they get a whole second encore with some kick-ass covers…that should be good enough for them’. Just once, I want to hear Al get asked certain questions about the old stuff. His next interview should be with someone who has seen the set list…“So, it’s the last tour, you’re obviously going to play Stigmata or something off Rape and Honey, right?” “No? Why not?”

When that guy said, “Buy everything from Twitch, on…”, I was honestly expecting Al to cut him off and instantly denounce Twitch along with WS…“No, don’t buy that one, either…just get the last four…and the new RevCo, and buy our shirts!”

It will be interesting to see if OTHER people think the new RevCo album is his best ever.

Well the two that have been sorta released (13th planet sampler) sound pretty good. It’s not the rock music like “Cocked and Loaded” there’s quite a bit of electronics in there! certainly not the best shit ever BUT I would say back in the vain of what I think many would consider what REVCO should sound like.

Seemed like pretty genuine answers to me. It will be interesting to see if OTHER people think the new RevCo album is his best ever. I’ll give it a listen but I honestly don’t expect much.

Ya know that music that they played inbetween Meshuggah and Ministry, while they were tearing down and setting up? That was the new RevCo disc.

Nice interview. Thanks for sharing.
