Just remembered about this because I saw an old clip of the Crue on a VH1 special. I was watching channel V recently and they had a live show from Motley Crue, I hadn’t heard much at all, so I thought I would watch a bit.
Reunion tour, not old stuff.
I didn’t mind it, much better than the studio versions I’ve heard of old songs.
The main reason I brought it up was because through the whole concert it was tagged as “Motley Crew” by the station, and I thought the guitarist was hilarious! It looked like Alice Coopers corpse had picked up a guitar and taken heaps of drugs.
But expecting to roll my eyes I was surprised. Not really my thing, but I can see why others like it, a few here are into them?
my appreciation of this band is limited to tolerating them when someone plays their stuff at a party or something… “Shout At The Devil” seems like a decent album, although every song apparently has the same riff and tempo
There is a time and place for this kind of sleazy/good-times rock but I think I’d go for Kiss or Twisted Sister before the Crue.
Didn’t care for them until a friend dragged me along to see them live at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. This was during their Theater of Pain tour. Cheap Trick opened. Great show.
I have since seen them live about 3 more times. They’re a fun band.

That is Mick Mars. He’s actually the oldest member of the group. He has a back condition, called ankylosing spondylitis, so he looks like a hunch back.
I don’t care for Crue, except for “Live Wire” which was more of an homage to the band Sweet more than anything. Also, their book (The Dirt) is fucking funny and disgusting. A must-read.
