Here’s some of the stuff Al did when working on this album, directly from Ministry themselves:
No W Redux -Jourgensen has written an aria as the new introduction, featuring opera singer Martha Cooper.
Jesus Built My Hotrod Update Mix- Butthole Surfers front man Gibby Haynes delivers an entirely new introduction.
Stigmata Update Mix- includes all new vocals and newly remixed guitars. (Afra: Also new kick drums were added in).
Unsung- An interpretation of the events of 9/11, this version includes a bagpipe throughout the song. (Afra: The bagpipes are a really good addition to this song).
Bad Blood- Jourgensen adds a lush choral element throughout the song, additional guitars and incorporates outtakes from the original recording sessions.
Those are just some of the highlights. It should also be noted that all tracks are remastered (Stigmata, as an example, sounds much better compared to the original as a result of the remastering). The remastering in itself gives the tracks a feeling of hearing them again for the first time.
You can read more on Rantology from the Press Release:
“Jourgensen also included the brand new track, “The Great Satan”, as a preview of things to come. “It’s where the upcoming record is going (due in early 2006). Fast and furious. So far the songs that we have for it are three-thousand miles an hour. And it will be just as political as the last one.””
…uh-oh…
“fast and furious”?
“political”?
I smell another HOTM on the horizon.
Although the prospect of updated versions Stigmata, Unsung and Bad Blood interests me…
Can’t wait to hear those bagpipes.

ONLY THE NEW INTRO??

Jebus…Am I the only one on here that loved HOTM?
I say bring it on!

Nope, I loved it. It was exactly what Al said it would be: “Psalm 70, just like Psalm 69, but 1 notch above it”.
There are few albums that I can listen to where I can honestly say I enjoy every song, and that is one of them. Plus, there’s nothing as bad as Grace on that album, or as long and boring as Scarecrow.

Not at all. It’s hardly as good as the output from the golden years of 1986-1992, but it’s a hell of a lot better than “Dark Side…” or “Animositisomina”. Probably on the same level as “Filth Pig” to me.
That said, I’m hoping “Rio Grande Blood” takes at least a few steps in a different direction. Hearing Psalm 70 was nice, but I don’t know if we need Psalm 71.

I agree for the most part. I put it well above Filth Pig, and overall I think it’s stronger than Psalm 69 (there’s no song as BORING as N.W.O on it).
Well, I liked N.W.O. but I do agree - I put HOTM above Filth Pig. Not as good as LORAH or Mind, but I found it to be a very enjoyable album.
Houses… above Filth Pig??? Are you ill in the head??? Buddy, I would seriously rethink that for a second. Slow down, think about what you are saying. Filth… had guts. It was dripping with synicism and venom. It was bloated and evil. It was…oh hell, it was miles better than a lame-ass Psalm 69 re-tread.
Yikes!

“Sanctuary asked me to put out a collection and we already have a greatest hits CD out there on Warner Brothers, and I just figured that a second one would be a rip-off for the kids. Why rehash that stuff? I decided that if we, I should at least go in there and update some of the songs so it isn’t just another compilation. The RANTOLOGY collection is stuff I hand-picked so that it could be something worth having.” - AL
