Monster Magnet

So… Monster Magnet are touring soon, anyone seen them in recent years - are they still worth it? I have never seen them, love all the early stuff, haven’t really heard anything post God Says No (although I assume they would play old stuff still, hopefully not pulling a Ministry).

I probably wont go anyway, but if I get some good reviews I might consider it more [:)]

I saw them play with Rob Zombie and Fear Factory, and it was the second worst show I’ve ever seen (after Grim Fairies).

I saw them on Superjudge tour and was blown away. Saw them just before God Says No and was like ‘wow, shitastic’.

Saw em in 1999, dug it…I like all their releases, haven’t heard their latest…

Weirdly enough I’d say God Says No is the worst.

Not a fan of Monster Magnet.

I liked Cathedral though.

I listened to Monster Magnet for a grand total of 3 months about 6 years ago. It was a very brief Monster Magnet phase that ended abruptly. I can’t remember why

Does “pish” refresh your memory?[cool]

Their latest stuff is absolute bollocks, avoid avoid avoid,

their older stuff is passable… decent. [cool]

I’m with toot on this one. Never been a fan. Don’t really know what people like in them, they pretty much redefined the word “suck!” “space lord mother mother” wtf does that mean? it isn’t even catchy for being gibberish!

I think it’s supposed to be “Space Lord Motherfucker” but got the radio friendly treatment, hence “mother mother”.

I now know why I just stopped listening to them. Their straightforward rock is enjoyable for a few listens with some beers then it just gets boring.

we are both right
The line “space lord mother mother” was changed from “space lord motherfucker”, most likely to make the song more radio and TV friendly, and a band version with the original lyric has never been released

There’s no dispute, just the lyric was supposed to be “motherfucker” but they acquiesced to the other. I have the ‘Intergalactic’ version of the song that has the original “space lord motherfucker” line that was released on their greatest hits a while back.
