MiXXXes of the Molé

And the heroin reference was intended to be taken with a dose of sarcasm.

I think most normal people got that! [:)]
Late,

Sarcasm with a dose of heroin?.. … wait… did I mixxxxxxxxx that up?

i like some remix album…most notably nin remix albums…but i’ve yet to enjoy a ministry remix.

and i’m NOT joking when i say people make better music when they’re on drugs :stuck_out_tongue: well, that’s my opinion anyway…or actually, it might be a combination of drugs and angry/bitter youth.

Remember back in the 90’s when the remixes on the ministry CD singles were something to look forward to with anticipation? I do… I miss those days.

Nowadays when a Ministry remix comes out my immediate reaction is a facepalm followed by a sense of dread and loathing.

At this point I would rather give Al money NOT to put out any more music.

The Alternate mixes of Bad Blood and Unsung are the last ones I enjoyed. The last proper 12" that I liked was JBMHR.

Al has no dignity left. He’s still beating a dead horse even long after Bush left office and “retiring” ministry. I liked that album, but it makes zero sense to release a remix album so many years album. It’s desperate, offensive, and pathetic.

You lot are pretty intelligent with the occasional exception of when black people are brought up.

I think I am offended. I have supported Al Jourgensen’s carreer since 1990. I have purchased every release with Al’s name on it and purchased most items in multiple formats.

So excuse me if I am irritated that Al continues to drive away those who helped launch his career (Connelly, Barker, Rieflen, Sin, Stayte, etc) and expects me to keep buying his half assed musical efforts that lack the afforementioned.
You need to look no further than the C U Latour for an example.

I’m pretty sure Al doesn’t call you up and tell you “BUY MY FUCKING ALBUM”. Ministry is neither compulsory nor is it a cult [insert joke about how his wife is equivalent to Jim Jones]. You don’t have to buy the album, nor is anyone telling you you have to. Art is art. Fans don’t dictate, nor should they really, the output. If they did, I’m willing to bet Ministry would’ve released variations on Psalm 69 for the rest of the 90s.

I do apologize for my overreaction to the heroin comments. It was assuming a lot that wasn’t there; it’s just that I’ve seen a lot of those sorts of comments here before and it irks me. But not so much that I should’ve lashed out.

hayyy-yohhh!

That’s a really cool site - thanks for the heads up.

It’s probably going to net some decent remixers - like the RevCo ones -

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

…I actually liked Mixxx-O more than the original… If it’s done right, then it could be decent. If it’s one guy (Clayton) just remixing all of the songs, no.

And vic, I see your point. But do understand, that a lot of people here might have been fans of Al a LOT longer than you. Hell, some were there buying the supporting the stuff since Cold Life/With Sympathy. They stuck with him and dished their money his way. So after all of that investment and fan loyalty, they’re disappointed as to whats become of Al and his shoddy musical and business directions.

My gripe started with CULaTOUR and Last Sucker. He made a lot of promises, and even promoted the entire tour as a “retrospective”, but ended up renigging and letting some of those fans since the early to late 80s buy their tickets blindly and play nothing but new stuff.

My gripe with the remix albums is that they usually and generally awful. I made the mistake of buying Cocktail Mixxx and feeling cheated. They’re just not good (not counting Mixxx-O).

Plus, when ministry ended after a few mediocre albums, people were relieved and figured no more harm to be done. Then we got the covers album, which was awful, then this. He clearly doesn’t give a shit about anyone but himself. I don’t take it as a fuck you, or “They’re sheep and buy everything”, although the latter could easily apply to some.

But in the end, what it all comes down to is disappointment. Some of these felllas grew up with this stuff. Influential music for their times. Listening to Filth Pig, or LORAH, or Twitch; you could tell there was some fun put into those albums as compared to the newer ones where it’s more hire and play and strictly on the professional front. Huge change in quality all around with the general product. A huge careless slap to the face of the fans who bought him that El Paso house, those dogs, cars, etc.

You couldn’t have said it better Piko. I still havent heard MOTM but you hit the nail on the head on how most of us feel on Ministry. My deal with Ministry started on Rio Grande Blood. It just felt like a heavier sequel to HOTM. It was practically the same album. Had a couple good trax, Gangreen being the true highlight, but it just wasnt a solid followup. Still kinda pissed I missed MasterbaTour, but after reading Ministry’s setlist I’m not that upset. More bummed on missing RevCo. And I didn’t even bother with Rio Grande Dub or Cocktail Mixx. Cocked & Loaded I thought was an ok album. Better than RGB

Then Last Sucker came out which started off good but then was just a drop C version of the previous two. Then there was C U LaTour. Epic face palm. I’ll admit I had an ok time being in the front bangin to every song and getting felt up on by a hot goth chick who was an old school ministry fan, she was telling me she had seen them on the In Case You Didn’t Feel Like Showing Up tour. But that setlist was total crap. I expected that a few from Last Sucker was gonna get played and I was happy that they got those out of the way first. Then the HOTM trax started but I got a little concerned after Waiting. Then they start playing RGB and I was still waiting for classics. 3 classics and 2 shitty covers later(I liked hearing Roadhouse Blues) I walk out of the most disappointing setlist ever

And I do mean setlist. The performance wasnt bad. I didnt even bother with Cover Up. I’ve heard a good chunk of the album either live or on other albums. I also didn’t bother with Last Dubber, nor have I heard the last two RevCo albums. If MOTM is gonna be the last Ministry release it proves that Al doesnt give a fuck about anyone but himself and I’m not gonna get upset about it anymore

I remember the good times and realize that he’s been done with Ministry and playing live for quite some time now. Idk what all happened with RevCo but Al’s just ready to call it quits. Yeah we all want him to go out with more of a bang but it doesnt look like its gonna happen. Perhaps we should all just get over it

If it’s done right, then it could be decent.

Would you STOP saying that!!!

And vic, I see your point. But do understand, that a lot of people here might have been fans of Al a LOT longer than you. Hell, some were there buying the supporting the stuff since Cold Life/With Sympathy.

Stuck with them from '90 til '03 - thirteen years. Glad to have said goodbye. Got out while the going was still good. Phew.

Heard ‘The Mind…’ two days after my 21st birthday back in 1990…and was floored. It was everything I was looking for in an album (except Test of course). Checked out ‘Land Of…’ a few weeks later (the shop assistant saw my ‘Mind Is A Terrible Thing…’ shirt and asked me if I had heard their previous album) and to my surprise it was even better.

Ministry have now become everything I look to avoid when shopping for records.

My gripe with the remix albums is that they usually and generally awful. I made the mistake of buying Cocktail Mixxx and feeling cheated. They’re just not good (not counting Mixxx-O).

My gripe with the remix albums is that they are REMIX ALBUMS!!

Where did that thread go with all the alternative mixxx names, as suggested by prongers? Titles like Leonardo DiSexxxio were more entertaining.
