Erie Loch interviewed by me, some time around September or October 2010. This was originally published in a local print-only industrial fanzine that I occasionally do, but hardly anyone reads that, and since I was scanning some other stuff today I thought I’d toss this up here for the Prongs archive. Hopefully it answers all of your questions about this pivotal, monumental Ministry release.
Inspirational!
That was actually quite interesting.
Thanks!
Hmm what I found most interesting was that ‘Animositisomina’ has been remixxxed…
Whewwww . . . .
Finally Erie can fix those other musical abortions that Ministry put out before they finally hit their stride with “Dick Song” and “99%”.
That wasn’t actually a dig at Erie, it was more a dig at 13th Planet and Al and Angie for continuing this ridiculousness of “remixxxing” anything and everything.
I don’t think Erie’s a bad guy (though I do think he’s an unrepentant asskisser). I just think that his music is horrible and I hate his so-called contributions to the world of Ministry.
I’m an old-school fan of Ministry and like other old-schoolers, I’m bitter and jaded at what Al has done recently to what was once a beautiful legacy of creativity, energy, and rebellion.
I don’t find anything that Erie has done to be artistically interesting or pleasing (listen to some Blownload and get back to me if you’re undecided on the topic). That being said, I’m against all the stupid remixxx albums regardless of who’s making them, so I’d be crapping on this project no matter who the designated Mixxxer was. The fact that it’s Erie just makes it sillier as far as I’m concerned.
i hope Erie mixxxes in some Dubya samples into the Animositisomina remix album because that would be so rad.
It said that there was also a remix of Flashback on the Blownload site a while back. If they’re going to remix the Warner catalog I’d hope that they would do it like Sexxx-o Mixxx-o which is easily the best of the remixxx series, I’m not sure what that says
Killer.

I actually can’t wait for DSOTS to be remixxxed. I like his whole inspiration for remixing but I’m almost certain he’d butcher that album along with Filth Pig. Other than the 12" Version of Reload I don’t really see how that album could get the remixxx treatment.
He seems like a stand up guy, but his remixes were ok but got old real fast. It was all of the same thing, but different songs. Some of his mixes were decent though. But some were eh. Might be a little more better than clayton was though. But that’s not saying a whole lot.
I thought some of the Mixxxes of the Mole tracks were surprisingly interesting. The ones he did for Got Mixxx (was that what it was called?) were pretty forgettable, but then the original album was hardly stellar.
Sexx-o Mixx-o was good because 13th Planet spent some cash to get a variety of people to work on it. I guess they didn’t get the results they wanted, because it was immediately back to Clayton and Erie doing it all by themselves after that.

The Prong remixxx album is also like this.
Sounds like they have a few albums mixxxed and ready to go. When Mixxxes of the Mole came out it was weird because The Last Dubber was supposed to be it, then all of a sudden we get all these weird releases on Cleopatra. I’m pretty sure the LubricaTOUR had them loose a lot of money and all these odd releases have been used to pay it back… But with that being said you’d think they’d just re-release the Warner catalog. I would be stoked if they’d do that… Being able to hear the early albums remastered with more bass would float my boat (the Pretty Hate Machine rerelease comes to mind)
I had a chance to meet the Blownload guys at the Seattle RevCo show and they were pretty cool guys… I really liked Eerie’s programming with the new NWO, but Stigmata didn’t do it for me (the pig squeel’s pretty cool I have to admit)… Mixxxes probably only got one full listen.
I’m downloading Got Mixxx? at the moment, we’ll see what’s up.
Surely they realise that a With Sympathy Rerelease would put them back in the black! We could get a 3 disc collection with the original album, rarities from the era and of course Mwixxx Sympathy
Okay, I thought it was probably a bit unfair for me to lump in “Mixxxxes of the Mole” along with everything else terrible that Erie has done without me first taking a listen. So I checked out about 6 or 7 tracks on YouTube.
Guess what? It was actually . . . completely awful. Just as bad as I thought it would be. Maybe worse. Seriously, how anyone can let this guy (as well as his enablers) get a free pass on these audio abortions is a complete mystery.
Honestly, the remix thingies that the Prongers made for that contest dealio were way better than any of the dogcrap mixxx tracks that Erie bunged up.
