Pretty sick line up.

Judas Priest opening for Fall Out Boy? Ouch. I’ll assume they are alternating stages.

Slash and ministry!!!

Yeah, that hurt.

I was about to post the same…something very wrong in the universe…

Papa Roach and Godsmack both still exist?

I was looking for some other alumni of the “what did people see in these bands” thread from a while ago, a keener eye than mine might spot a couple more.

Is Apocalyptica that band that does cover versions on string instruments?

Yeah, they play metal classics on cellos, and some of their own material. Pretty decent, i saw them supporting Rammstein a few years ago.

I’ve never seen them live, but I’ve watched plenty of their videos and even bought a CD at some time. APOCALYPTICA is badass! I don’t particularly care much about their original stuff, but their covers of classic metal songs are totally rad!

Yeah, that’s exactly how i feel about them too, haha. I liked them live but wouldn’t listen to an album. I saw an acoustic guitar duo a few years ago, Rodrigo y Gabriela, they played their own stuff along with crazy Metallica and Slayer covers, good show but i liked the covers more than their originals.

I think I came across them too. They were kind of a classical / Flamenco type of thing, right?

Yeah, that’s them. They seemed to be pretty popular for a while, haven’t heard of them for a while though.

Yeah, a lot of this stuff is flash-in-the-pan and burns bright for a time before people lose interest and see something else shiny.

There’s been a good number of acts that have made a quick mark as novelty acts (albeit, sometimes really great novelty acts). Hayseed Dixie, Richard Cheese, Hellsongs . . . just a few that come to mind.

I actually really like stuff like that. Re-interpreting something in a radically different way has appeal to me, whereas a punk band doing a punk cover of a punk song, or a metal band doing a metal cover . . . there’s no reason for me to really care. It’s like . . . oh, that sounds pretty good and almost just like the original but not quite. Yay.

I also get really tired of (yes, Al, I’m looking at you) “Hey, let’s do a really fast thrashy cover of a pop hit!!!” BOOORRRRRIIIINNNGGGG!!!

Anyway . . .

On this note - we must have covered (no pun intended, har har har) the Messer Chups version of “Stigmata” on this board at some point, right?

I love that version, it’s like the antithesis of a Jourgensen pop cover. All it needed was just a spoonful more cocktail lounge-y sleaze, maybe courtesy of a vibraphone solo

Me too. I have Hayseed dixie doing ACDC and several richard cheese albums. cheese is awesome!!

Yeah, I think I’ll give this one a miss. Not really bothered with festivals much these days. If I had a free ticket though I’d probably go for a looksee.

GODFLESH should be way higher, especially since FEAR FACTORY wouldn’t have existed without them. I mean I know they’ve been gone for 8-9 years, but they will pretty much crush everyone on that stage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MSBWGHOoag

Rodrigo y Gabriela is currently touring outdoor stadiums, so they’re doing alright.

Plus, Fear Factory are absolute shite [:)]
