Ministry - Robocop (not the PTP song)

I remember seeing a commercial awhile back for one of the old Robocop Nintendo games. I want to say it was Robocop v Terminator, but I could be wrong. Anyways, I could swear that I heard them use “Corrosion” in the background of the commercial.

Does anyone else remember this commercial?

Usually, google is my friend, but the only results that are turning up are (a)corrosion in controllers, (b)Corrosion of Conformity, and ©Ministry of Sound.

I was browsing old Usenet archives months ago, and sometime around 1993 or 1994 I heard multiple mentions of the song “Corrosion” being used for a SNES Robocop vs. Terminator ad.

You’re not alone. I guess it did happen.

I wish I knew what term I looked under, but I believe it was “ministry” in rec.industrial.

heh, that reminds me of when nintendo tried to reinvent themselves as a badass system after the whole non blood mortal kombat thing. they had the butthole surfers actually in their commercial for teh snes and it’s games, and they played clips from one of their live shows. the songs used were who was in my room last night and dust devil. if i remember the story correctly, the big N stopped using them when parents complained of the bands name. who would have thunk that?!? heh

i’d like to track down a video of that commercial, but those things can be hard to come by. once i found an entire torrent of sega commercals, that was cool. (the segata sanshiro saga from japan was awesome)

I remember that ad fondly. I was 11 when it came out, it made games like Beavis & Butthead as well as Donkey Kong Country seem like god himself made them.

I don’t remember Dust Devil, but I remember the other being used. After all, I was 11.

let’s not forget the point of that beavis and butthead game was to get to a GWAR show. i love gwar.

(they didn’t have screnshots for the SNES version, and the genesis one was much better anyways)

That Corrosion commercial was shown about every third commercial on MTV back in 94 or so. The first time was kind of cool, but after a while, it got pretty old.
