Ministry + Laibach - NYC 2015

…odds of me buying a ticket to this just went up 1000%.

…according to Laibach’s Facebook page:

Woah! Random! Now THAT is a must see…

Yeah, that’s a lineup that would make the $70 ticket cost make sense.

That would be awesome, except that Ministry is playing NYC on May 6.

On May 13, they are in Philly.

A Ministry and Laibach double bill makes a lot of sense, since they’re both groups that were somewhat challenging, innovative and even scary in their prime.

Although Laibach, given their place of origin, took significantly more risks with their art - their appearance on a Slovenian show called “tv tednik” in the mid 80s was analogous to the Sex Pistols’ “filth and the fury” chat with Bill Grundy, and led to a ban on even using the name ‘Laibach’ publicly for years. All the while, they kept making public appearances in their military uniforms and essentially did everything ‘in character’ despite the possibility of being jailed for doing so.

So i do have a soft spot in my heart for both them and their parent art movement NSK, even though some of their recent records (e.g. ‘Volk’) have been embarrassingly bad. It’s hard to listen to the record ‘Slovenska Akropola’ without getting chills, considering the atmosphere of that record and how it presaged the sheer horror and chaos that region descended into a few years after it was released.

So, yes, could be interesting…

That would be awesome, except that Ministry is playing NYC on May 6.

On May 13, they are in Philly.

hmm… that’s def true. What the hell?

…and now they post this yesterday. STILL listing the NYC date with Ministry, despite the obvious scheduling conflict from Ministry’s tour date listing…

I’m in if Laibach has the two drummer girls setup from the Wat tour and the Irving Plaza date is really happening.

Pretty sure that is a typo on Laibach’s part, and it would be Philly who gets the duo on the 13th.

Ministry are in Anaheim, CA on the 11th but are playing 13 May Philadelphia PA, Theatre Of The Living – US.
Laibach have two off nights before Quebec on the 15th.
Therefore, Philly on the 13th makes the most sense.

Nah, for Laibach. I thought that’s what this thread was about, mostly. Guess I’m confused.

I wish I hadn’t spent $100 for the Anaheim show. The Roxy gig would be sweet! It’s super small, and even if Ministry sucks, Laibach can still deliver.

and we have FNM dates thrown in also…I’m definitely confused…

So is laibach opening for ministry or not?

It’s still unconfirmed, but my bet is no.

Laibach just posted on Facebook and corrected the date. They are opening for Ministry at the May 12 Philadelphia show.
