I have been updating the Wikipedia entry for Samples Used in Industrial Music and the entire Ministry section comes from this site. So first off I wanted to thank everyone who added to the awesome sample list from this site.
I am a huge Ministry fan and have really dug this site. We have started a podcast/project devoted to the history of industrial music (from 1970-2001) and it will have a huge focus on the Chicago scene. If you are interested in the origins of our music I invite you to come check out our show. It’s at Typesix.net
Check out the show and see what where all about. I’d like to hear what you all have to say about podcast/mixes. Coming up we have interviews with people who were on the pigface/ministry tours and other Ministry specific events. The reason I bring this up is we’d like to hear from some others interested in what we’re doing. Some of us (myself included) are from Chicago and have quite a bit to say about Wax Trax!, Invisible, Ministry, etc… etc… and are always looking for others who are interested in the project. Swing by and tell us if you’d like to contribute!
Anyway, thanks again to everyone who added to the samples page. We’ve added your information to Wikipedia. I just started learning Wikipedia and all I’ve been able to do is add Prongs as a “Footnote”… If anyone would like to help out with the Wiki entry to give more credit to Prongs please feel free to edit the entry, anyone can!, or tell me how…
I like wikipedia but the higher-ups (whoever the fuck they are) are really button-happy with the warnings and the hand-wringing, even though the information is usually backed up and everything.
One day I was bored and put up a page for Mark Spybey, real detailed and everything, and now some asshat just makes his name redirect to Dead Voices On Air. Irritating.
I prefer Discogs, though I know they are not the same.
Well I picked Wikipedia because I figured that way anyone can add information to it without the worries of web sites disappearing after time and all the work going away. There used to be archives for samples from Skinny Puppy, industrial bands, etc… but they have all seamed to leave…
But if after all that work there is someone who could come along and remove it for no reason like the Mark thing, that’s fucked… Who has final say so over these things? That doesn’t even make sense to link a person directly to one of his many bands…
Damn hippies… I don’t know of any better site to use though… hrmph…
this is a great list, but the real question is…where did Thrill Kill Kult get the samples of the girl that they always used “I live for drugs” “I can’t afford, I would never buy drugs” “and everybody thinks I’m high and I am” “I’ve grown up on drugs so much i don’t think i can come down i really don’t” “i don’t hurt anybody”…definitely their most popular samples and after all these years nobody seems to know the source…maybe it’s somebody they tied up and tortured…lol
