Ministry & Godflesh Melbourne 24th February

Evil - very hip that you got to play with Mayhem.

I did have an encounter with Children of Bodom when they were in Detroit a few years ago. Several of us were down around the Eastern Market area - basically a giant market area of all kinds of food vendors and wholesalers. I have no idea why we were there but we were. Anyway, one of the group looks over and noticed these long hair metal head types making a bee line for us. I had no idea who they were but someone mentioned COB was in town. It turned out to be exactly them.

Apparently these badass, evil, Finnish Death Metal heads were cowards, afraid of being in the city. Eastern market is in a shady area but during the day it is perfectly safe. There are people everywhere. All kinds of people. Even my mom and dad will venture down there and they in their 70’s. They were so cowardly, they wanted a ride back to the venue because they didn’t want to wait for a cab or however they got down there. We gave em a lift to the venue which was Harpos. A complete and total dump in a truly dangerous part of the city. I always hated going there. The ironic thing was they were FAR safer at Eastern Market than anywhere near Harpos.

Children of Bodom nearly got their arses kicked last time they were here by a mate of mine who was working security at a popular bar in the city. Wankers.

Awesome stuff…cool you were able to hang out. Mayhem is one fucked up band from back in the day.

Hellhammer looks like he should be wearing an Affliction shirt!

And that’s a bit of a revelation that they get mobbed by fans in other countries. I guess that means it’s a good thing I’ve thought twice about wearing a I Heart Transylvania shirt at a show…

gotta admit, Al looked (ok beyond the facial tatts and piercings) and sounded great and coherent. the best in years.

even though I haven’t been a fan of much stuff post 04 or so, I’m still rooting for him and really happy to see this.

yeah sounds and looks sober. nice.

Yeah, I was saying the same on another board earlier. He looks and sounds absolutely great. Mentally alert, great physical shape, and if you see the live clips, he’s moving around more than he has in the last 20 years. He even looks like he’s enjoying himself. Setlist aside, I’m really looking forward to this tour.

yeah sounds and looks sober. nice.

Agreed!
