Ministry - Experimental Album: Double U - Ey - Eks - Zero - One - Nine AKA BOXSET

Been looking for this one a looooooong time, I know a snippet was on one of the versions of Industrial Accident, but someone uploaded the whole thing to YouTube in the last year.

It’s… kinda whatever? There’s some cool stuff and ideas here, but this is definitely not the holy grail I was expecting. Pretty nice to just put on with a morning coffee and a wake 'n bake, but I can see why it was never really released.

Yeah, the only memorable track is the one Roland Barker did that was included on the Industrial Accident soundtrack.

The other three don’t sound like much thought was put into them. Cool creepy ambient tracks at best.

I picked up the bootleg vinyl, glad to have it, but not essential listening.

Sounds like dungeon synth.
I like dungeon synth, so I’m OK with that.

way to go dude. I wish they’d released this on CD.

What time period is this from? I’m assuming this is not the “ambient” album that was scrapped in favor of Dark Side of the Spoon? Of which “Happy Dust” is the only known relic.

It’s wax trax era. it’s definitely NOT the album that was scrapped for darkside. I honestly think that scrapped album turned into the pink anvil project

Ah ok that makes more sense. Yeah this album is too oldschool and minimal for my taste. I prefer Pink Anvil stuff.

I could see a connection between “Happy Dust” and the Pink Anvil stuff.

It sounds similar to the song “Facing Death” if you skip ahead on this album: NEW YEARS EVE PARTY | PINK ANVIL | maxbrodyworld.com

Recorded either during the Twitch 86 tour or right after.

I’m still hopeful for the dark side ambient outtakes. “Happy Dust” is a really cool track. It borrows elements (mainly the guitar riff) from the 83 song “Let’s Be Happy”. I wonder if there’s other tracks out there that got a similar treatment.

The question I have is about “Dream Song” was that just a one off recording for Mind, or where there others like it? I’d love to hear a whole album done in that vein.

Al reused that little Happy Dust western riff when the rebooted RevCo opened for Ministry too.
