Fucking bullshit! I knew I shouldve waited to buy tickets! [pirate]

Don’t worry grumpy ,the extra money you paid will help Al get another face tattoo…

You wait until they come with the burger special.

2 Pepsi cans…

thanks guys, I feel better already!

…or you can think of it as ~10 years of cumulative effort to get to this point and to make it happen at this level ($4 to $5/year).

I find being part of this effort f’in scary, exciting, and surreal all at the same time. We had to step up all of our games several levels on several fronts, musically and merch-wise.

I small batch screen printed the tour tees, fitted tees, color explosion tees, hoodies, panties, and long sleeve tees in my kitchen without a silk screen machine. I also did the beanies on my Silhouette machine (kind of like a CNC/printer/plotter all-in-one). http://www.thegodbombs.bigcartel.com/

Kitty (the merch girl) and I made the jewelry. It will be up on the merch site by March 16th.

You went from $4 to $5 a year in just 10 years?
25% raise. Not bad.

No offense or anything but what does this have to do with 2 for 1 Ministry tickets?

$40-$50/ticket for these gigs, not the typical $5-$20 door cover and not the same fan base on this tour.
Spread that $40-$50 ticket over the 10 years it took to get to this point.
We skipped the $20-$40 ticket tier and venues, although a few of the William Control tour tickets may have been in that range after the fees were added.
BTW, Toronto is sold out at 930 capacity.

I didn’t make him a musician/showman; he did that all on his own.

The merch (and financial optimization) allowed him to be able to take the show on the road to build his fan base. We worked our asses off and learned several important lessons along the way.

I think Mooney is talking about how she made Voidhead a star.

Clearly

Uh ok…

This is not meant as any smack to Void, because I truly do love the kid and think his performances are great and a lot of fun, but . . . .

This is a MINISTRY show. Ministry is the headliner. There will obviously be fans of Void there as well and even some that are there primarily for him.

But no one was discussing the ticket prices in terms of how much it costs to see Void. Yeah, I think when Grumpy and I saw him headlining our tickets were $10. Probably $15 or $20 when he opened for that William Control guy (who we didn’t watch because fuck him).

We (well, I am, at least) are stoked for his success to this point and really proud of him scoring this spot on the tour lineup.

We’re also glad that (for those who have not yet purchased tickets) tickets for the Anaheim show are currently TWO for $40 instead of $40 each.

Now . . . about that merch?

Yeah thats what confused me as I hadn’t even noticed Voidhead was in the subject line and I don’t keep up on other threads involving Voidhead(once again,no offense its just not my thing)…

I’m astounded and ecstatic Void secured this spot. Watching this kid go from awkward prongs member who tried way too hard to fit in with and prove himself to the older prongs kids, to putting out absolutely shitty [;)] “music” aimed at trying to shock and offend but failing so miserably that I would constantly be embarrassed for him, to one day showing up as a finalist in Barker’s “Fix This” soundtrack compilation contest, to putting out actual music sounding music, then onto actual music sounding music with a decent video to go with his music sounding music and then two tours to the other side of the nation and now opening for Ministry. In-fucking-credible!

I never would’ve believed his shit stained lips [;)] would ever make it this far, but now that he’s gotten his shit [;)] together and actually started churning out noise that resembles music (for actually quite a few years now), I’m super stoked for his success. Like Queer Bait, I don’t dig most of Void’s music, but I can hear that it’s actually music now and not a sad, pathetic attempt at shock. However, unlike Queer Bait I have no problems keeping up with his progress and even chipping in a few bucks at the merch booth or directly to him to help keep him going. Good for fucking Voidy!!!

Just to be clear, I certainly an not trying to shit on Voidheads success…I checked out some stuff he posted way long ago and it just wasn’t my cup of tea at all…just didn’t have interest in keeping tabs on his work…but i am glad to hear there has been some progression and I certainly wish luck to anyone pursuing their dream…

I don’t think anyone thought you were shitting on Void’ success… At least I didn’t. And, to be fair, Void from long ago and Void today are two completely different beasts. Wouldn’t hurt to check out something lately just to see the change even if you still don’t dig it. Still not really my cup of tea either but certainly respectable now, and I could see how others would like it. And Goddamn it, it’s void. How can ya’ not second chance the lad? I personaly hope he blows up huge for strictly selfish reasons, of course. I have hand drawn poop pictures and signed posters and original runs of CDs he’s sent my way. If he blows up I’m selling that shit for a fortune on ebay!

Hadn’t he already taken the show on the road before you met him. I mean, isn’t that how you met him?[/reply]

Why do you guys go out of your way to pick apart everything I post?
I was trying to help smrfy feel a little better about not getting BOGO and help the boss out at the same time by letting you guys know it is the merch that sustains the touring (and not just Void’s tours).

Forgive me for leaving out the word “continue”.

He self-financed/crowd funded the first tour. That is when I met him in person.

Just because a band tours once, it doesn’t mean the tour made the band/crew money or that they built a fan base large enough to sustain their business over time. The travel/tour expenses are pretty close to the same when playing to 20 fans or 2000 fans, give or take for gas mileage due to the extra merch and the cost of the extra merch itself.

Since there is no big record label backing involved here, Optimization for Sustainability is Key in addition to the main point of be taken seriously as a musician (as smrfy pointed out). There is no doubt that Void’s sound and lyrics have evolved and matured with time. The cast of characters has also evolved over time. Hexxx sounds different than all the others before it, in a really good way.

Um,I wasn’t picking anything apart…I was just trying to understand a post that had no context to the original post concerning 2 for 1 Ministry tickets sales…

Yeah, as Grumpy noted, it’s been a really fun ride watching Voidy take his shit seriously and continue to make progress. I’ve always dug the kid and loved his grand tales of cartoon debauchery and excess even though I didn’t take his artistic pursuits at all seriously. Several years ago he made some post about not fucking around and. taking stuff seriously to go “all in”. I rolled my eyes, but damned if he didn’t start showing us right away how serious he was. In addition to solid sounding tunes he made well produced and fun videos on a shoestring budget that were and are far better than the low rent video abortions Ministry has been churning out for 10 years.

And if it’s being financed by merchandising, even more props. Doing that shit is a total pain in the ass so being able to scale it and actually clear and materials and labor costs to make a profit… right the fuck on.

And I f our fellow dino-rockers come out early for Ministry this time, Grumpy and I won’t have to be the only two past drinking age, haha!
