any thoughts on the prices for the last tour? 38$ to 45$ with a tendency towards 40ish.
kinda steep as far as I am concerned. actually I had a good chuckle when I saw that. well, maybe it’s just that I don’t go to major events normally, who knows. looks I have been sitting in some dark hole for the last 15 years and missed the price explosion for events like this one.
I’m waiting to see a setlist before I drop any $ down on this one. If he comes out and decides to play the ‘bush trilogy’ in it’s entirety, with a few scattered classics here and there, he can forget about it.
Yeah, I too have wondered about why Ministry tickets are generally pricier than a lot of bands. Of course they are nowhere near as expensive as bands like the Stones or Depeche Mode, but certainly more expensive than a lot of bands in their league of popularity.
I wonder if perhaps the video display adds to the price tag. I imagine they probably have to hire an extra tech, pay for the rental of the equipment and the cost of hauling said equipment. Perhaps Al is just acutely aware of Ministry’s cult following and is of the opinion that most fans will shell out just about any amount within reason to see them live.
the last time ministry were going to tour Australia, tickets were $66-$70. Reasonable for an inernational act (TOol, RHCP, RATM etc are all about $100). However int. act that aren’t that “popular” usually go for about $50 (ie Eagles of Death Metal). We have to pay more because they have to fly over + rent or ship EQ over I presume.
Then again… Ween are playing here soon and their tix are about $56-60 I think… still, I would probably pay more to see ween than I would Ministry, lol, and ween tix sold out pretty quick too.
Although I can’t go to ween, I’d rather see the birth of my child thank you! [:)]
no problem, no problem at all. I am not getting bitter over this, I will most likely enjoy some excellent new music in some brooklyn warehouse or loft space on both nights for 6 to 10 bucks. but as someone being interested in ministry for exactly 20 years I do voice my opinion on topics like this. and I do think that these prices are a bunch of BS. never the less I am absolutely certain, that a lot of shows will sell out, no matter what, which is totally fine with me.
$32 for the detroit area show +$11 surcharge. i most likely won’t be going. a little bit because of the price, a little bit because they booked a venue too far away from the city, and mostly because if i see them ever again i’m going to totally forget why i loved them so much growing up.
that being said, i don’t have a problem with the $32 ministry are charging here. the surcharge blows but thats not their fault. i’ll be shocked if they sell out 1700 tix here though (100 of them being the stupid $80 vip tickets).
$11 surcharge?? That’s insane. They also have a huge monopoly over the ticket market - too bad Pearl Jam didn’t succeed but they get major points for trying (at least with Ticketmaster).
As far as HoB goes - they have been higher in price for other shows as well so I bet it’s them adding the extra on. Their drink prices are outrageous ( $6-8 for a plastic cup of beer if I remember correctly ).
I don’t really understand the business of the venues - are they guaranteed a certain amount of $$ no matter who plays there and how many show up?
yeah ticketmaster charges are out of control. but for major events they are the only ones i know of that can handle the traffic. I’ve seen people try different services and got pissed when their servers got hammered and went down. thats the one and only one good thing i can say about ticketmaster.
i know venues add their own % to merch sales which is why a shirt will cost u different amounts depending on where u are. and it’s why merch is always insanely priced at stadium gigs as compared to your average club. so i’d guess that they have some sort of say over ticket prices as well. but i know that the venue they are playing here also has a ton of $10 and $20 shows too. so who knows. anyone care to shed some light on this? i know there are a couple people on here who have more detail.
