Is it true that ministry worked on an unheard unreleaesed possibly shelved ambient album in 1998 that ‘happy dust’ originated from. Also unheard song titles like ’ Indian’ . ‘yes you are’ ‘tinsel’ and ‘monkey brains’. is this true ? Can anyone confirm . So will Warner brothers own the rights to it ? I’m guessing a release is highly unlikely. I would love to lease the rights to release a very limited mini bootleg with the five songs. It’s a shame Warner bros didn’t release the 32 odd songs recorded for dsots album.
32 songs? Where did you get that info?
The lost gospels according to Al jourgensen. Autobiography states about 32 songs were recorded for the dark side of the spoon. If I remember correctly.
I would take anything you read in that book with a 10-ton grain of salt, friend.
I remember reading that in the Gospel book also and getting excited and then almost immediately going, hey wait a minute this could be pure fiction, to echo Lowelly’ sentiments…some definite bullshit in that book but it was still entertaining as hell…
Although now that I think about it that is kind of a strange thing to lie about or embellish…
I’d love to hear more of those Dark Side era tracks. Some may have been recycled into later songs, but I’m sure there’s a batch waiting to be heard.
I’ve also always wondered if Dream Song was just a weird one off, or if they had a batch of ambient tracks from 1988-1989 as well. I’m hoping there’s more, Dream Song is a top 20 Ministry track for me.
Maybe Paul has some of these recordings. He basically ran that release since Al was all drugged up!
About the only song i can think of that could have been left over from dark side would be shove from animos… that has a total dark side vibe and doesnt really go with the rest of that album imo
Yea those are my thoughts as well. Ambient work just doesn’t seem like Jourgy’s style. Especially not late 90s era Jourgensen and all the debauchery taking place at the time. I could see Barker doing it tho. Someone’s def gotta ask him about this
